Hailing from the legendary Kapoor lineage, Karisma Kapoor had broken the norms of her family and made her name in the Bollywood industry, proving to be a ‘No. 1’ heroine of all times! In her Humans of Bombay post, Karisma had revealed how her grandfather, Raj Kapoor had reacted when she had told him that she wanted to be an actress and his golden advice which stayed with her forever. Karisma had said, "Growing up, I used to visit my granddad on set—& his talent would leave me mesmerised. Once I was there when he was directing ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’. I loved the sets, camera & lights! I knew I wanted to become an actor & contribute to the family legacy. When I told my granddad, he said, ‘It’s glamourous but it’s not a bed of roses—you will have to work very hard.’ That stayed with me." While Karisma Kapoor had made her debut with Prem Qaidi in 1991, in the same year, another film, Henna directed by her grandfather, Raj Kapoor was released and not everyone knows that she had wanted to act in that film. Karisma had wanted to be a part of her grandfather's film but the lead hero of the romantic-drama film was none other than her chacha, Rishi Kapoor. So Karisma had to let go of her dream as her, romancing Rishi Kapoor would have led to multiple gossips about a niece working with her uncle which would not have proved right for both the actors. Post Raj Kapoor's demise, the film was directed by Karisma's father, Randhir Kapoor.
On April 4, 2020, Karisma Kapoor had posted a throwback picture with her grandparents, Raj Kapoor and Krishna Raj Kapoor, her sister, Kareena Kapoor Khan and her cousins, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and Ranbir Kapoor. The Kapoor family is famed for their love for good food and in an interview with the Hindustan Times, Randhir Kapoor had spoken about the same. Revealing everyone's favourite dishes, Randhir Kapoor had said, "My grandfather (Prithviraj Kapoor) and father’s (Raj Kapoor) favourite dish was Yakhni Pulao. My daughter Karisma loves Fish Curry and rice while Kareena loves all kinds of cuisines, but has turned vegetarian for the last couple of years. She is very fond of Chinese food. In fact, all of us share a preference for Chinese food though Rishi Kapoor also likes Japanese."
