Talking about how she realised that she was overweight, Kashmera recalled that once she was out shopping in the US with her husband Krushna Abhishek, and it occurred to her that she did not fit into small or medium size. That was when it had hit her that she has put on weight. Kashmera revealed that Krushna's cousin encouraged her to take up dieting, following which, Kashmera gave up on rice, chappatis and bread. She stated, "I started eating in small portions and within 15 days, lost three kilos. This boosted my confidence and I started working out like crazy. When the lockdown happened, I wore a mask inside the house to make sure that I didn't binge (laughs!). By the time the lockdown was lifted, I came down to 59 kgs. Today, I am 56.4 kgs and I feel proud that I have achieved my goal."
Kashmera also shared that her doctor had informed her about the weight gain as she had gone through the IVF process to have a baby. However, the IVF hadn't worked, and Krushna and Kashmera had to opt for surrogacy in the end. Kashmera was quoted as saying, "After 10 years and 14 attempts at IVF, so much steroids had entered my body that it made me sluggish and heavy. I couldn't even work out as I was trying to conceive and couldn't exert my body. When it didn't materialise, I became angry and started eating just about anything." She had said, "I have always done very bold photoshoots and bold roles because I've always been very proud of my body. But what happened that in the last decade I got busy getting into this new life. I got married eight years ago, then I came into a new family. I had my father-in-law and then you don't tend to not really do bold photographs just for the sake of doing it. Then you become more domesticated, you try to do such roles only when you are shooting for a project. Then babies came into my life."
