KKR's Batsman, Rinku Singh Is Building A Hostel For Poor Children, Who Want To Become Cricketers

The man under the spotlight for Kolkata Knight Riders in this year's IPL 2023, Rinku Singh, has invested in building a hostel for the underprivileged children who wish to pursue cricket.

One of the star players in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 so far, Rinku Singh needs no introduction after he hit five sixes against Gujarat Titans. His thunderous match-winning performance provided Kolkata Knight Riders 3 crucial points in their campaign in a match that looked like a loss for them till the 18th over. However, in the last over of the match, KKR needed 28 runs in just five balls, and Rinku was on strike and struck five sixes against Gujarat Titans’ bowler, Yash Dayal. Since then, he is receiving a lot of appreciation from former players, cricketing greats and fans on social media.

Kolkata Knight Riders' Rinku Singh is building a hostel for poor children who want to play cricket

The Kolkata Knight riders’ batsman, Rinku Singh belongs to a working-class family, as his father, Khanchandra works as an LPG cylinder delivery man in Uttar Pradesh. The cricketer had seen a lot of challenges on his road to becoming a cricketer, which is why he has decided to build a hostel for underprivileged youngsters like him who wish to pursue cricket. Rinku has been where they’re and knows what they lack, but he also knows the quality that his hometown possesses.

In a conversation with The New Indian Express, Rinku Singh’s Aligarh coach, who helped him during his childhood days and truly laid the foundation of his cricketing career, talked about his student’s dream project. The coach shared how Rinku always wanted to help the other young boys, who weren’t financially sound just like he was once upon a time but have so much potential in them. The coach also praised Rinku for such a beautiful gesture. If the report is to be believed, Rinku Singh invested 50 lakhs in this project. The coach said:

"He always wanted to build a hostel for young players, who do not have financial resources to pursue their dreams. As he is financially sound now, he has decided to make it a reality."

Further, in the same interview, Rinku Singh’s Aligarh coach also revealed that work is currently in progress and by the end of next month, chances are high that the hostel will be set for the inauguration. As per the coach, the project's construction started three months ago, and Rinku is monitoring the developments whenever he gets time from his hectic schedule. He also revealed that the hostel is going to have 14 rooms, and every single room has an occupancy of four people.

From separate bathrooms, a shed, and a pavilion to a canteen with healthy food for the youngsters, Rinku has really taken the responsibility to provide much-needed support to the underprivileged gems of his state. It is quite easy to understand that Rinku doesn’t want children to face the same problems that he faced during his journey to make a name for himself in Indian cricket. The cricketer is doing everything he can so that children, who belong to the working class just like him can dream of playing for India one day.
