'Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi' actress, Erica Fernandes shared how she was replaced in a South Indian film. She also talked about nepotism in the film industry.
Erica Fernandes, a model-turned-actress, rose to immense popularity with her role as ‘Dr Sonakshi Bose’ in the TV serial, Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi, alongside Shaheer Sheikh and Supriya Pilgaonkar. Later, she also starred in the popular serial, Kasautii Zindagii Kay as ‘Prerna Sharma’ opposite Parth Samthaan. Before stepping into the television industry, Erica has also acted in South Indian films, with her first release being Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu. Recently, Erica opened up about her experience of being in the entertainment industry.
During an interview with Galatta Plus, the television actress shared an incident when she was roped in for a South Indian film. But later, she found out through media reports that she was replaced. Further, talking about the same incident, Erica shared that people ask her why she did not venture into Bollywood. In her words:
“There was a time when I was in a South film that I shot for 2-3 days, and after that, I got to know through the media that I was replaced. Then again, I’ve been asked the question ‘Why not Bollywood?’”

Erica also revealed that there have been many times when she auditioned for a certain role, and even almost bagged it. Later on, she would find out that she was being replaced by some known face or their child. Sharing her thoughts on nepotism, Erica said:
“There have been times where you’ve gone to audition, gotten to the moment where okay, almost final, then you get replaced by someone who is a known face or someone who is a known face’s child; nepotism happens.”
Erica further talked about how people used to question her decision to go back to doing television projects, after trying her hands at films. The actress said that the only thing that ever mattered to her was her work and not the platform or format. In her words:
“And then all of those contribute to whatever experiences or how you kind of proceed with whatever comes next. So, when I came from movie to TV again, people questioned me why from movie you’re going to TV. For me, that didn’t matter because for me, my work is my work, and I take pride in my work, be it any platform or any format. I came to TV.”

In the same interaction, Erica discussed how her physique affected her career in the past. The actress disclosed that she had to deal with body-shaming comments due to her thin body, which impacted her self-esteem during her younger years and even hampered her career. However, Erica learnt to accept herself, realise the importance of self-validation, and deal with things in a better way.
As of now, Erica Fernandes is currently seen in the TV series, Love Adhura, starring opposite Karan Kundrra.
