Kunchacko Boban is a man who enjoys the same fandom and stature as Shah Rukh Khan in Bollywood. The chocolate boy of the Malayalam film industry was the crush of every girl in the 90s and 2000s. His good looks and amazing dance moves made him the romantic hero of the Malayalam films.
Born in Alappuzha, Kerala, Kunchacko Boban is the son of director and producer, Boban Kunchacko. His family owned the first film studio in Kerala, Udaya Studios. Kunchacko started acting at the age of 5 in the Fazil-directed film, Dhanya. He made his debut as a leading actor in 1997 with the romantic film Aniyathipravu, and since then, there has been no looking back for this handsome actor.
Over the years, Kunchacko Boban has acted in various blockbuster films like Niram, Chandamama, Kasthooriman, Swapnakoodu, Elsamma Enna Aankutty, Seniors, Padmini and many others. Throughout the various romantic characters, Kunchacko Boban reinstated the faith of love and romance in people. Before meeting Priya, Kunchacko Boban had a few girlfriends. However, like his millions of fans, Priya was one of his biggest admirers. He first met Priya when she and her friends came to him for an autograph. The actor couldn’t stop falling in love with Priya. It was certainly love at first sight for Kunchacko Boban. Once sharing a birthday post, the actor penned a love-filled note for Priya. An excerpt of which can be read as:
“I still remember the Moment how our eyes met….How we looked at each other…just like yesterday. Didn’t know till then that a simple glance could convey so much of one’s thoughts and emotions…The way it made one smile like there was no tomorrow…The way it made one’s mind float and fly like a butterfly.”
Kunchacko Boban was a star when he met Priya, and girls would swarm around him wherever he went. During that time, letters were the most accessible mode of communication, and the lovebirds would write love-filled letters to communicate their feelings. On Valentine’s Day 2021, Kunchacko Boban shared a glimpse of the love letters he wrote for Priya and penned:
“Well...the year was 1999...And this girl was my Valentine since then...still is...and will be forever!!!! Lot of people ask me about the love letters that I got during those days. But then, here are some that I wrote when Priya Kunchacko was Priya Ann Samuel!!”
After dating for more than five years, Kunchacko Boban and Priya Samuel tied the knot in 2005 in Ernakulam, Kerala. From highs to lows, Priya had been Kunchacko’s ardent fan and critic. The couple embraced parenthood quite late, and Priya was often bombarded with disturbing questions.
In a throwback interview with Vanitha magazine, Priya shared how she would attend birthday parties and other functions wearing shades to hide her tears. The star wife was often asked uncomfortable questions regarding motherhood, and because of this, she started avoiding functions.
During this difficult time, it was Kunchacko, who only gave positive thoughts to her. After 14 years of marriage, Kunchacko and Priya were blessed with a baby boy, whom they named Izahaak Boban Kunchacko.
