'Laapataa Ladies' Fame, Nitanshi Goel Tears Up After She Beats Alia-Katrina To Win IIFA Best Actress

Nitanshi Goel rose to fame with her stellar performance in the comedy-drama, Laapataa Ladies. The actress started her career as a child model and did several shows and advertisements before making her debut in Bollywood. She also won the title of Miss Pantaloons Junior Fashion Icon in 2015.

Nitanshi Goel became the youngest actress to win an IIFA Award

When it comes to award shows, fans eagerly look forward to seeing if their favourite celebrity will win the best actor or actress. And the best actress category for the IIFA Award 2025 was stacked with four of the most popular and loved female stars of the present times. However, the three ladies were beaten by a 17-year-old newcomer, who gained fame for her powerhouse performance and critically acclaimed stint.

Nitanshi Goel was nominated for the IIFA Awards 2025 for the best actress. The actress' journey with her debut film has been nothing short of extraordinary, and it goes to prove as she bagged the award for her portrayal of 'Phool Kumari' in Laapataa Ladies. For the unversed, the film's director was Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan, and the former produced it.

Nitanshi Goel gets emotional as she accepts her award for best actress 

Nitanshi Goes found herself overwhelmed with emotions as she accepted the award for her phenomenal performance as 'Phool Kumari' in Laapataa Ladies. Veteran actors, Boman Irani and Bobby Deol presented the young actress with her award. Nitanshi wore a gorgeous ruby red gown for the occasion. The 17-year-old actress beat Alia Bhatt for her film, Jigra, Katrina Kaif for Merry Christmas, Yami Gautam for Article 370, and Shraddha Kapoor for her performance in Stree 2 to bag her first major acting award. She stated:

"I wasn't expecting this. I was hoping Laapataa Ladies would win big, but I didn't think I would win myself. The other nominees were incredible, and I'm a huge fan of all of them. I'm truly overwhelmed by the love I've received."

Afterwards, when she was asked how she felt about winning the big award, the actress stated that she felt extremely grateful. Nitanshi couldn't hold back her tears and stated that the first thing she did was cry and try to put together an acceptance speech. She added that she also gave her mother, Rashi Goel and director, Kiran Rao, a hug. She stated:

"It's become a thing now. Honestly, I couldn't stop crying because winning this award is a dream come true for every actor, and it's finally come true for me. I'm just so grateful. The first thing I did was cry and try to put together a speech because I couldn't believe it was happening. Then I gave my mom a big hug, and a huge hug to Kiran ma'am. It was all just happy tears."

Nitanshi Goel opens up about her future projects

In the same conversation, Nitanshi Goel expressed her excitement about working with more stars. She revealed that there are several celebrities she would love to share a screen with. However, on top of her list was Shah Rukh Khan, followed by Kartik Aaryan. She stated:

"There are so many people on my list, but Shah Rukh sir tops the chart, followed by Kartik Aaryan. It would be amazing to work with any of them."
