'Laapataa Ladies' Pratibha Ranta shared how she bagged the role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Heeramandi' and talked about her experience.
Pratibha Ranta has been winning the hearts of her fans with her masterclass performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi and Kiran Rao's Laapataa Ladies. The new face of the industry has left a lasting impression with her grasp on acting. For the unversed, Pratibha began her acting career with the television show, Qurbaan Hua. Moreover, her short role in the most recent releases, Heeramandi and Laapataa Ladies, instantly left everyone in awe. Bagging a role in SLB's directorial is surely a massive thing for every other artist out there, and Pratibha is no exception. In an interview, the actress shared how she bagged the role in Heeramandi and talked about her experience.
In an interview with Rediff.com, Pratibha Ranta was asked how she ended up bagging the role of 'Shama' in Sanjay Leela Bhanslai's Heeramandi. Talking about the same, the actress shared that the director was looking for someone to play the role for one year, but he couldn't lock anyone in. So, Pratibha decided to send her audition tape, which was loved by the director, and following that, she got a call. The actress stated that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a taskmaster and strict only on the sets, but out of that, he is extremely sweet. Pratibha added:
"Sanjay sir was looking for someone to play this character, but he couldn't lock anyone for one year. I sent my audition tape and he really liked it. He called me to his office. You hear so many things about him that he is a taskmaster, he is very strict. But he is like that only at work. When you meet him off work, he is very sweet."

In the same interview, Pratibha Ranta added that soon after finishing her role in Laapataa Ladies, she began to shoot for Heeramandi. Speaking along the same lines, Pratibha mentioned that she remained in awe of the royalty of the sets as well as of the costumes. Pratibha stated that the best thing was to get to know about Sanjay Leela Bhansali's vision and the way he functions.
In the same interview, Pratibha Ranta was asked if she felt starstruck while being on Heeramandi's sets. The actress revealed that she was more starstruck when she watched the set and saw everyone giving their 100 percent to make it work. The actress shared that on the very first day, she walked into the sets and saw Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, and Aditi Rao Hydari.

Pratibha added that initially, she thought that nobody would talk much and just wrap up their work and leave, but the opposite thing happened, and everyone in the set made her feel comfortable and included. Pratibha added that this is the best thing about Sanjay Leela Bhansali's set that no one here is seen as a star but treated equally as an actor. She said:
"The first day I walk in I am seeing Manisha ma'am, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharmin, Sanjeeda. I initially thought they won't talk much and they would just wrap their work and leave. But it was very nice that they made feel included in the cast. All of them made me so comfortable. This is a thing about a Sanjay Leela Bhansali set. Nobody is seen as star there, everyone is treated as an actor."
For the unversed, Pratibha Ranta's sister, Abha Ranta also acted in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi. Abha was seen as young 'Mallikajaan,' which was later taken over by Manisha Koirala. However, both the sisters left a lasting impression on the hearts of the audience with her acting skills.
