Lata Mangeshkar's niece, Rachana Shah remembered her aunt on her first death anniversary. She reveals that the family is still struggling to come to terms with her passing away.
The queen of melody, Lata Mangeshkar, bid adieu to the world on February 6, 2022, in Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, at the age of 92. Her niece and various Bollywood celebrities remembered the renowned singer on her first death anniversary.
In an interview with PTI, the singer's niece, Rachana Shah, described her as an incredible force. She further said that it had been a year since the demise of Lata Mangeshkar, and her family still finds it difficult to believe that. However, the singer's voice lingers along with memories. Every time the phone rings, it feels that Lata didi is calling, Rachna added. Talking about the same, Rachna stated:
“We are still unable to accept that she is no longer with us. It’s been one year, and it seems all unreal and unbelievable. She was an incredibly enormous force, and that can never diminish. We rather don’t want to come to terms with her death. Her voice lingers on throughout the day, her memories are there. Every time my phone rings, I feel, ‘Is it Didi calling me?'"

Rachana recalls Lata Mangeshkar as a devout person who believed in God. Rachna said that the singer reflected peace, and there was divinity in her voice. She further added:
“She was a believer in God, she would do puja, and her room was filled with the fragrance of incense. All these are small, little, everyday things that we miss dearly. She never lost the connection till the last moment. Everybody was special. She had a large heart, and she would give love to everyone.”
While everyone is still sorrowful, many celebrities remembered her and posted on their social media handle. " The voice of the universe, returned to the universe a year ago." tweeted Indian composer and musician, Vishal Dadlani. Singer, Pankaj Udhas said, “Today is one year since you left us Bharat Ratna LATA MANGESHKAR JI. Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed and very dear. A year without you has felt like an eternity. Missing you always.”

On the late Lata Mangeshkar's first death anniversary, Bollywood actresses, Kajol, Hema Malini, Asha Parekh, and Raveena Tandon gathered to pay tribute to the Padma Vibhushan awardee singer. Raveena shared two images of the group sitting for a portrait and posted, "All about tonight! Legends in honour of Lata Mangeshkar ji, Asha Parkh ji, Hema ji."
Lata Mangeshkar created a musical legacy that transcends language and cultural boundaries for music lovers. Rest in peace Lata ji.
