Late Director, BR Chopra's 25,000 Sq-Ft. Family Bungalow Gets Sold For Rs.183 Crores By 'Bahu', Renu

Late Baldev Raj Chopra, better known as B.R. Chopra was a legendary director and producer, who had left for his heavenly abode on November 5, 2008, due to prolonged illness. He is known for helming off-beat stories into timeless classics. Most of his movies revolve around socially relevant issues and portray the mirror of society.

Some of B.R. Chopra’s superhit movies include Dhool Ka Phool (1959), Waqt (1965), Naya Daur (1957), Kanoon (1958), Humraz (1967), Insaf Ka Tarazu (1980) and Nikah (1982). The ace producer had also produced the evergreen television drama, Mahabharat in 1998. However, a recent report suggested that the late director's family bungalow has been sold for a whopping amount of Rs. 183 crores.

A report in Economic Times suggested that B.R. Chopra’s family mansion, which is located in Mumbai’s one of the posh localities, Juhu, has been sold for a hefty sum of Rs. 183 crores. According to the reports, the late director’s bungalow is spread across 25,000 square ft., and it was bought by K Raheja Corporation. The company has reportedly paid a stamp duty of Rs. 11 crores for the registration.

The K Raheja corporation has acquired the property from B.R. Chopra’s daughter-in-law and the late filmmaker, Ravi Chopra’s wife, Renu Ravi Chopra. The company is reportedly planning to build a luxurious residential project on the property which is situated opposite Sea Princess Hotel. The same place from where B.R. Chopra used to conduct his business.

For those who don’t know, B.R. Chopra’s journey had begun from being a cinema journalist to an ace producer and director. He was born on April 22, 1914, in undivided Punjab. However, after the painful partition, B.R. had moved to Delhi and then had shifted his base to Mumbai. He had begun his career as a journalist by writing movie reviews for the newspaper, Cine Herald Journal.
