Sana Raees Khan, who is also a lawyer by profession, deemed Armaan Malik's second marriage to Kritika Malik as illegal under law.
Armaan Malik’s interpersonal dynamics with his two wives, Payal Malik and Kritika Malik became a hot topic of debate on the internet, ever since the trio participated in Bigg Boss OTT 3.While the YouTuber’s first wife, Payal got evicted within the first week itself, Armaan and Kritika continue to be a part of the show. While polygamy is prohibited as per the Hindu laws of our country, Armaan having two wives has been a matter of query among both the viewers and critics. And recently, a lawyer shared her two cents on the matter.
In a recent interaction with the Indian Express, Sana Raees Khan, a former Bigg Boss contestant and a recognised lawyer by profession, commented on the polygamous marriage of Armaan Malik with his two wives, Payal and Kritika. While the trio have already shared their clear understanding on the matter quite a few times, Sana, spoke through the lens of the Hindu Marriage Act of 1955 and stated that Armaan’s second marriage is considered illegal under the law. In her words:
“In India, under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, a Hindu man can legally have only one wife at a time. Polygamy is not permitted for Hindu individuals. Therefore, a second marriage would be considered illegal and not recognized under Indian law.”

Sharing more of her views on the matter, Sana Raees Khan revealed how the portrayal of a Hindu husband with two wives on a reality show leads to confusion among the people, since polygamy is prohibited in our country as per the law. Moreover, she also cited how such visualisations may lead to stereotypes about the legality of marriages in the socie. She said:
“The portrayal of a Hindu husband with two wives on a reality show can create confusion about the legality of polygamy under Hindu law, as polygamy is not legally recognized in India for Hindus. This might lead to misunderstandings among viewers about the norms governing marriages in Hinduism. It could perpetuate stereotypes or misconceptions about Hindu practices and beliefs regarding marriage.”
Earlier, in a startling revelation with India Today, Payal Malik, right after her eviction from Bigg Boss OTT 3, talked about her husband, Armaan’s two marriages. She asserted that he hadn’t converted to a different faith. Payal revealed that Armaan belongs from a Jatt family while she was from a Gujjar family. Moreover, Payal emphasised that she is the only legal wife of Armaan.

In the same conversation, Payal remarked boldly that her husband, Armaan Malik’s second marriage with Kritika is illegal. She then quoted the Hindu Marriage Act and revealed that if the first wife doesn’t have an objection to her husband’s second marriage, then it is not considered illegal. She said:
“Kritika and Armaan ji's marriage is not legal. However, from what I know, if the first wife doesn't have an issue with her husband marrying again, it's not an issue.”
