Born on May 9, 1992, in a Badaga family of the Nilgiris district, Tamil Nadu, as Sai Pallavi Senthamarai to Senthamarai Kannan and Radha. She is the elder one and has a younger sister named Pooja. Sai Pallavi had completed her education at Avila Convent School, Coimbatore.

Sai Pallavi is a doctor by education

After completing her studies, Sai Pallavi took admission to the prestigious leading medical university, Tbilisi State Medical University, recognised by MCI (Medical Council of India). In 2016, she had completed her MBBS from the same, and in August 2020, she had also taken her FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) in Trichy.

The Maari 2 actress, Sai Pallavi, has time and again revealed that it was her mother, Radha, whose dancing skills encouraged her to be a dancer. During her school days, when Sai Pallavi told her mother about her interest in dance, the latter had encouraged her and used to play songs of actresses like Madhuri Dixit Nene and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to help her learn dancing.

That's when in 2019, Sai Pallavi was reportedly offered Rs. 2 crores for doing the commercial of a fairness cream. However, the actress had rejected the tremendous deal and had said a clear 'no' to the owners of the fairness cream.

In an interview with Behindwoods, the actress had confirmed that she had turned down a Rs. 2 crore offer presented to her for being featured in a fairness cream. "What am I going to do with the money I get from such an ad? I'll go home and eat three chapatis or rice. I do not have any other big needs. I see whether I can contribute to the happiness of people around me or I can say that the standards we have are wrong. This is the Indian colour. We can't go to foreigners and ask them why they're white, and if they know that they will get cancer because of it. That's their skin colour, and this is ours."

Sai Pallavi prefers to act in films without makeup

Sai Pallavi is one of the few actresses in the Indian cinema who appear onscreen with minimal makeup or no makeup at all. In her debut film, Premam, Sai Pallavi had worked without makeup in the entire film and had credited her film's director, Alphonse Puthren, for encouraging her to act confidently and believe in herself.

In her interview with The Times Of India, Sai Pallavi had revealed why she decided not to wear makeup in her films. The actress had opened up about her time in Georgia and how she covered herself from top to bottom to protect herself from acne. But after receiving so much love from the audience for her performance in Premam, Sai Pallavi got immensely confident in her skin, and the rest is history. In her words:

"I was one of those teenagers who felt horrible about having acne. I used to cover my face with a dupatta when I was in Georgia. It took Premam, and Alphonse, for me to realise that people love you for your character and the confidence with which you portray it. All the directors don't want me to wear makeup, too. I am happy if girls feel proud about themselves, their natural body image and consider me an inspiration. And yes, I'm not going to use makeup in the future, too."
