Love story. These are two words, which have the power of making just anybody feel all mushy and giddy. As soon as we see or hear these words, we immediately go into a very dreamy state. Suddenly, it is all hearts and flowers around us. But, one thing that we tend to forget is, love stories do not always begin with mush.
Some of those tales are very different from ones we have always heard of. And, this is exactly the case with Qubool Hai fame actor, Deepak Wadhwa and his gorgeous stylist wife, Sayantani. Oh yes ladies, sorry to break it to you, but the TV heartthrob is very much taken. Here is their sweet love story.

Just like any other story, Deepak and Sayantani had a chance meeting. But no, that first meeting did nothing for these two lovebirds. Here is what Deepak had to say about it:
"I met her because I had to give her my clothes for my shoot in Delhi. But I just couldn't remember her face and name after I met her. Her name sounded very complex to me. So, I forgot it really quickly".
Boys, we tell you! Anyway, so this happened, he gave her the clothes and then they were supposed to meet on the day of the shoot. But, as luck would have it, the shoot got cancelled, it never happened. You must be wondering how everything began between the two. Do not worry, this is just the beginning of a beautiful story.
Deepak revealed that his first impression of Sayantani was not a very great one. Here is what he thought of her after their first encounter:
"My first impression of her was that she is a very arrogant girl because she does not know me. I was doing pretty well in modelling at that time."
But do not fret! This first impression vanished into thin air and got replaced with sheer love real soon. After the cancellation of the shoot, Sayantani called Deepak and asked him to take his clothes back from her. This is the time when Deepak used to live in Delhi, and Sayantani resided in Gurgaon. For the uninitiated, let's just say that these two places are pretty far away from each other.

So, for obvious reasons, Deepak could not go and pick his clothes from Sayantani immediately, and soon he kind of forgot all about it. Then, one fine day, he got a Facebook friend request from someone named 'Teenie Bhaumik'. Yes, yes, you guessed it. Teenie is indeed Sayantani's nickname.
Deepak accepted the request without realising that it was the same stylist who had his clothes. But one thing that happened after this made Deepak believe that his relationship with his wife was definitely written up there. Here is what he said:
"I never used to go online on Facebook. But one night I just went online, and I got a message from Teenie that said, 'Please take your clothes from me.' Realisation hit me that she was the same stylist. I had a meeting in Gurgaon the next day so I told her I would take the stuff from her then."
He continued explaining why he thought it was destiny playing its part:
"This is something that was destined to happen. I never used to go online, but that night I did, and that is when she messages. Co-incidentally, I also had a meeting in Gurgaon the other day, so it was meant to be."
So the next day, while he was heading to her house to pick his things, he kept wondering if he should just take his clothes and leave or ask her for coffee, so that he doesn't come across as rude. How adorable! He reached her place and they got talking. While chatting, he realised that Teenie was quite fun to talk to, so he asked her to go to a nearby restaurant and she agreed.
That's it! There was no looking back for the young couple after this, as they kept meeting everyday. During these meetings sometime, Cupid's arrow struck, love happened and Deepak proposed to his ladylove.
Their love story began in the most unique way, and their wedding was no different. Deepak is a true-blue Punjabi munda, while Sayantani is a Bengali. The couple tied the knot on August 14, 2014 in Delhi, in a Punjabi-Bengali style. And since the couple is so different from many others, their wedding was hatke too.
While in most weddings the groom reaches the venue first, then the bride enters with full pomp and show, then they click pictures, etc., none of this happened in Deepak-Teenie ki shaadi. In fact, Deepak says that the entire wedding was a rushed event. It all passed by in a blur. In between all the rituals (both of Punjabi and Bengali traditions), time just flew by.

Ask him what he enjoyed most about his wedding and pat comes the reply:
“We were rushing through the entire wedding. There were so many rituals and we did not even get to know when it got over. The only time we actually enjoyed was the youngsters' party that happened a week before the wedding. We clubbed the bachelor and bachelorette party and went out with our friends together. We were around 30 people and it was great fun.”

Every wedding has its own set of funny stories too. Deepak and Teenie's was no different. He was shooting for Qubool Hai at the time of his big day. It was August 8 and he had an early morning flight to Delhi, 6 a.m. to be precise. But as is common in an actor's life, the shoot schedule did not go as planned, and he ended up shooting till 4 a.m.
He crazily rushed home after pack-up, did his final packing and rushed to the airport. To top it all, it was raining heavily that day. He barely managed to reach on time, he says. But nonetheless, these are the events that turn into memories, and Deepak cherishes these memories fondly.
We have already said it, and we are saying it again. These two are very different from most other couples in many ways. Their honeymoon proved it yet again. While most people head for their honeymoon immediately post their wedding, these two took almost a whole year to take that trip. Yes, not kidding! And where they went for their honeymoon is another story in itself. Deepak says:
"We went to Kashmir for our honeymoon. We chose this because we want to cover India first. It is such a beautiful country. We went there in July, 2015."
They are both big-time travel junkies and so they first went to Goa in April, 2015, and then for their honeymoon to Kashmir. Oh, Deepak and Sayantani, just how many more surprises do you have for us?
The cutesy couple has been married for over two years, and neither their different work cultures, nor their different cultural backgrounds have ever come in the way of their conjugal bliss. When asked about the same, Deepak had an amazing thing to say:
"We both are very cosmopolitan people. Not really stuck up about religion etc. We enjoy all festivals and rituals together."
Even their families were completely okay with them getting married. No religious or cultural drama, they were happy as long as their kids were happy. Sweet! As Deepak himself puts it, their families are very open-minded, not typical in any way. Sure they do tease each other for fun sometimes, about the difference in Punjabi and Bengali weddings, cultures etc., but it's all in good humour. Itna toh chalta hai! If anything, it keeps the pep in a relationship going.
Deepak also shared a very special and cute thing with us. He said:
"Just before our wedding, 'Vicky Donor' released. We had a good laugh about it. The movie was all about us."
Absolutely true, right? They had a story amazingly similar to the couple in the movie.

Now, ask him who is the more romantic one out of the two of them, and without wasting a second, he says:
"Sayantani is more romantic. It's the small-small things she does. She makes an effort. I forget things, but she never does."
But there surely has to be one adorable thing that he has done for his wife. Obviously there is! Here:
“On our engagement, I sang for her in my besura voice. It was a song by Kumar Sanu, ‘Tera Mera Pyaar’.”
These two people are giving us immense relationship goals, agreed?
Talking about romance, how can we not ask the dashing actor how his wife feels about his profession. Does it ever make her uncomfortable to see him romancing his co-actresses on-screen. We asked him and he was quick to reply:
“Initially it happened. It wasn’t that she did not like it, but obviously since she is not part of the industry, it was bound to happen. But now she has understood that it is all professional and a part of my work. She understands that it cannot be avoided.”
He continues:
“All I have to do is tell her in advance about what all scenes I will be shooting, you know prep her a bit so that she doesn’t get a heart attack when she watches the scenes.”
Well, that is a great idea! When wifey dearest knows what is in store for her when she sits down to watch her hubby on TV, she will at least not be shocked. In fact, Deepak also revealed that now, she watches his shows more than him. She keeps telling him to watch them too. Such a sweetheart Sayantani is!
The fact that Deepak and Sayantani are irrevocably in love with each other is something we have figured out well by now. But since we do not know much about Sayantani, there is a certain amount of curiosity we have about her. What she is like, what she does. So we quizzed Deepak about his better half. Sayantani is a Senior Stylist with Vero Moda in Mumbai. She has a knack for styling and designing and does home interiors too. In fact, Deepak told us that she is the one who did up the interiors of their house! Beauty with brains and creative instincts, you see.

We also wanted to know, what is the one thing according to Deepak that makes his wife so special. Here is what he said to that:
“Her innocence. We are almost of the same age, she is a little elder to me, but that child is still alive in her. She has also been a great support in my career and she understands acting well. She is my biggest critic.”
Both of them have their own jobs, which are quite different from each other, different time schedules, hectic routines, etc. Therefore, there has to be something, which keeps their marriage as fresh and alive as it is. What is the secret to their blissful married life? Deepak explains:
“We love travelling. We do not sit at home. We make it a point to go out every day. Even if I come home at 11:30 in the night, and we just get the time to go out for tea or coffee, we do it. We watch a lot of movies, we travel a lot, small getaways over the weekend, etc.”
Take note, people. Show this to your partners too!
Travelling is one thing. But what about the days when they cannot go out, or just want to laze around at home? They have something fun to do even on those days. They cook together. Dreamy guy Deepak, just turned all the more dreamy, isn’t it? Here is what he says:
“We love to cook together on days we do not go out. Then we watch movies while we eat.”
So, who is the better cook? He says:
“I am an expert when it comes to eggs, home-made chicken curry and other Indian vegetarian dishes. Sayantani is great with Thai dishes, Goan curries and more such exotic cuisines.”
So, a perfect mix-and-match situation for everything is what keeps the two going strong, be it food or life in general.
Deepak and Sayantani might be different from each other in many ways, but the way they are with each other is like pieces of a puzzle. None of them is complete without each other, and together they make a beautiful picture. May God bless these cuties with lots of love, luck and happiness, always.
