Maanvi Gagroo reveals the reason behind her decision to keep her relationship with comedian, Kumar Varun under wraps for the longest time.
Maanvi Gagroo is one of the most popular faces of Bollywood. The diva rose to fame with her stint in the film, Four More Shots Please! and, other shows like TVF Pitchers, TVF Tripling, Made In Heaven, Ujda Chaman among others. Speaking about her personal life, it was on February 25, 2023, when she surprised her fans with the announcement of her wedding with ace comedian, Kumar Varun. While most were unaware of the two ever dating, their mesmerising wedding pictures stole the hearts in no time. And now, the diva spoke about why she didn’t speak about her relationship with Kumar Varun in the first place.
In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, Maanvi Gagroo opened up about her personal life and stated why she chose to keep her relationship with Kumar Varun hidden from everyone in the first place. The actress admitted that it was a conscious decision taken by the two of them, and they never really made any extra effort to hide it. Moreover, Maanvi added that she considered herself as a superstitious person, and so didn’t want to jinx her personal life. In her words:
“It was a conscious decision, very much so. Both of us were clear from the beginning. Our friends knew. It’s not like we hid our relationship. We used to go out together and attend events. But we never spoke about it in public and we wanted to keep it that way. Our relationship was a very private thing for both of us. We thought that it would bring in a lot of unnecessary opinions. I didn’t want any of that. Irrespective of whether they mattered to me, I just didn’t want them around us and impact our personal space I’m personally very superstitious and always have the worry of getting jinxed.”

Elaborating more, Maanvi then revealed how she too, like most other brides, wanted to post stuff like a countdown a few days ahead of her wedding. However, she mentioned controlling herself, and added that it wasn’t until her wedding pictures were dropped, that people got to know about her personal life. She mentioned:
“During the last one month before our wedding, I wanted to post things like ‘30 days to go’ or ‘20 days to go’. But I really held back. The first time we went public with our relationship was when we posted our pictures from the wedding.”
In the concluding segment of the interview, Maanvi was asked whether at any point, she felt pressured to get married, especially by her family or parents. In her response, the diva highlighted how she faced a little pressure from her parents, who constantly asked her about her plans of marrying and settling down. However, she added that her parents weren’t overbearing in their demands, and, at the end let her choose her partner on her own. She mentioned:
“When I was about 27-28, I had a little bit of pressure from my parents where they asked me if I plan on getting married and if I do, then when. They asked me, is there someone? what’s going on? Some relative or cousin used to call me up out of nowhere and ask me about my marriage plans and that used to really bother me because I had no answer. I didn’t even know them well and I would think to myself, who the hell are you to ask me? But that pressure wasn’t so strong or overbearing from my parents and maybe that’s because I lived by myself. Both my sister and I told them at a very young age that we would find our own partners. They were also very happy to be freed of that responsibility.”
