Madhuri Dixit revisited her decision to take a break from films right after her marriage, at a time when her career was at its peak.
Madhuri Dixit is the epitome of grace, charisma and beauty, and her talents are which that simply don’t require an introduction. The megastar made her first step into the world of films at quite an early stage, and thereafter, ensured that she creates an enigmatic stardom of her own. However, after delivering some back-to-back successes at the box-office, Madhuri chose to step down and take a break during the early 2000s, since she opted to focus on her personal life. For the unversed, the actress married LA-based eminent cardiothoracic surgeon, Shriram Nene in 1999. The couple is blessed with two sons, Arin (2003) and Ryan (2005).
In a recent interaction on the show, Kiska Brand Bajega, Madhuri Dixit walked down the memory lane and spoke about a period of time when she got married to Shriram Nene and thereafter, took a hiatus from films. For the unversed, the actress was at her professional high at the time she decided to halt. Talking about that choice she made by choosing her personal life over her professional stature, Madhuri mentioned how she always dreamt of getting married and having a family of her own. Moreover, she expressed how she felt that having her own kids would be a fun journey, and so she wasn’t a bit apprehensive about it. In her words:
“For me, that was one of the dreams I had for myself. I’m going to have kids and that’s going to be fun.”

A few months back, Madhuri Dixit grabbed attention, as she and her husband, Shriram Nene turned producers for their first-ever Marathi film, Panchak. This marked the husband-wife duo’s first professional collaboration, especially since Dr Nene belongs from a completely different field of work. In one of their joint interviews with the IANS, Madhuri opened up about this new experience and shared:
“My job is of the creative head. I look for scripts, and the casting and everything is done. Ram looks after the finances of the film, how the workflow is going to happen, and how the budgets are going to get done. So, in a film, we are like the left brain and the right brain. We have divided our jobs accordingly. It’s a great partnership.”
Right after marrying Shriram Nene, Madhuri Dixit quite literally took a leave from her homeland and settled in the US, as the perfect homemaker and the wife of one of the best cardiac surgeons. Previously, in an old interaction with Simi Garewal, Madhuri had spoken about her days post-marriage, where she wholeheartedly fulfilled the demands of a household. She narrated:
“I used to make breakfast for my husband when he was in cardiovascular surgery. I used to wake up at 5:30, make breakfast for him, of course, he used to leave for work and I used to go back to sleep for some time. I savoured every minute of it.”
