Throwback to when Madhuri Dixit talked about ugly criticisms which she faced at the beginning of her career.
Madhuri Dixit is undoubtedly one of the front-running names in Bollywood. The diva has mesmerised generations of audiences with her charismatic personality, breathtaking acting chops, iconic dance skills and more. However, Madhuri’s career hadn’t been a cakewalk. As she was an outsider in the film industry, she faced tremendous criticism initially in her career, and she once spoke about them candidly.
Previously, in one of her older interactions with Bollywood Hungama, Madhuri Dixit had retrospected on some of the most piercing criticism she faced in her film career, while she was a beginner. The actress recalled being considered extremely thin to be able to pick up the roles of heroine, and therefore constantly faced the brunt of skinny shaming. Talking about how directors would crudely talk about fattening her, Madhuri said:
“During my time, they thought I was too skinny to begin with. Yeh heroine isko thoda mota karo, they used to say. I don’t think that’s an issue now.”

In an interaction on the show, Kiska Brand Bajega, Madhuri talked about the biggest decision she took in her life post-marriage, when she stepped down and took a hiatus. For the unversed, the diva got married to Dr. Shriram Nene, a reputed cardio-thoracic surgeon and the couple settled down in the US thereafter. However, for Madhuri, it brought about a massive change to her hard-earned career, since she left it at the peak. Talking about the same, the actress mentioned:
“For me, that was one of the dreams I had for myself. I’m going to have kids and that’s going to be fun.”

Madhuri Dixit is recognised for her incredible dedication for classical dance forms, and the diva is even trained in Kathak. Time and again, during many of her on-screen performances, the actress has nailed her dance moves, leaving everyone in awe of their beauty. In an older interview with Bollywood Bubble, Madhuri highlighted facing double standards in the film industry, and recalled how people commented about her passion towards dance, despite being a mother of two. She had expressed:
“Aisa hota hai ki alag alag logon ki alag alag soch hoti hai, aur bohot se log aise kehte hai ki aap to maa ban gayi hai abhi aap kyu dance kar rahi hai. Aap baithiye, aap ghar dekhiye, aap aisa kijiye aap waisa kijiye. Lekin mujhe aise lagta hai ki yeh toh hum sab karte hi hai.”
