Filmmaker, Sanoj Mishra, who offered a film to 'Maha Kumbh' girl, Monalisa a film, has been arrested under charges of rape and blackmailing an actress.
The 16-year-old girl, Monalisa's dream took flight when a director named Sanoj Mishra offered her a film. For Monalisa Bhosle, who belongs to the family of mala-sellers, her life transformed during the Maha Kumbh at Prayagraj. People waited outside her family's stall to get a glimpse of her. Soon, film offers flooded her, and one of them was given by Sanoj Mishra, who is now in police custody.
According to the latest media reports, the director, Sanoj Mishra, has been arrested in Delhi on rape charges. A young woman has accused the director of exploiting her and luring her with the false promise of making her a film star. The victim stated that she first connected with Sanoj in 2020 through TikTok and Instagram while she was in Jhansi.
It was on June 17, 2021, when Mishra called her and stated he was at Jhansi railway station. When she refused to meet, he emotionally blackmailed her and threatened that he would take away his own life. The victim, in fear, met him the next day. On June 18, 2021, Sanoj booked a resort, where he intoxicated her and assaulted her. In the complaint, the victim revealed that the director even recorded obscene videos and threatened to leak them. The victim further stated that Misha exploited her on multiple occasions and made false promises to her of marriage to manipulate her.
Sanoj made headlines when he offered a film to Monalisa, who went viral for her sharp features and dusky complexion at the Maha Kumbh Mela. She became an overnight sensation after her pictures went viral. Soon, she was cast in the upcoming project, The Diary of Manipur. He also started giving her acting lessons.
Monalisa's life changed in a way, and it was courtesy of Sanoj Mishra, who groomed her. She took her first flight to Kozhikode, Kerala, on February 14, 2025. She arrived for a shop's inauguration hosted by businessman, Boby Chemmanur. He had earlier announced Monalisa's visit to the city. During the event, Monalisa left everyone in shock as she conversed in Malayalam on the stage.
Monalisa looked unrecognisable, courtesy of her makeup. She was dressed up in a red-hued ethnic ensemble and looked the happiest. Subtle makeup that highlighted her sharp features and hazel eyes made her look even prettier. Monalisa's look was completed with soft curls.
