Malaika Arora's Mom Joyce Shares What Happened In The Morning Of Anil Arora's Death, 'His Slipper..'

Malaika Arora's mother, Joyce Polycarp opened up about her husband, Anil Arora's demise and shared what exactly happened in the wee hours of September 11, 2024.

Malaika Arora’s father, Anil Arora, died by suicide in the wee hours of September 11, 2024. The entire family is devastated by the loss of their family member, and the visuals are proof of the same. Anil Arora was earlier married to his wife, Joyce Polycarp. However, the couple parted ways years ago. Even after their separation, they continued to co-parent their daughters, Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora.

Joyce Polycarp talks about her husband's demise

Even after divorce, Malaika Arora's parents, Anil Arora and Joyce Polycarp, lived in the same flat in Bandra and were often spotted together at family get-togethers. It has now been reported that Joyce gave her official statement to police officials after her husband's demise. If sources are to be believed, Malaika’s mother said that Anil used to sit on the balcony and read the newspapers every morning.

Joyce Polycarp recalls how she found out about her husband's demise

Joyce further shared that she saw her ex-husband, Anil’s slippers in the living room early in the morning. So, she went to the balcony to look for him. However, she could not find him there. Suddenly, she heard the building watchman shouting for help. So, she leaned over the balcony to see below and found her husband lying on the ground. Joyce also informed the police that Anil had some knee pain and was not suffering from illness. She added that he had taken VRS from the Merchant Navy.

Malaika Arora's father, Anil Arora, was reportedly battling depression

While the police are still investigating the case, a report in Zoom revealed that Malaika Arora's father, Anil Arora, jumped from the third floor of his residence in Bandra. Sources close to him also revealed that Anil was battling depression and had been unwell for almost a year. In July 2023, Anil Arora was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai due to some unknown health issues.

When Malaika Arora talked about her parents' separation

In 2022, Malaika Arora sat for an interview with Grazia and talked about her 'wonderful' childhood. She revealed how she faced tough times in the early years of her life as she was only 11 when her parents, Anil Arora and Joyce Polycarp, had a divorce. Malaika and her sister, Amrita, moved with their mother to Chembur and were raised by her after the divorce. She revealed that her parents' separation allowed her to observe her mother through a new and unique lens.
