September 2024 was a devastating month for actress, Malaika Arora as she lost her father, Anil Mehta. It was in the wee hours of September 11, 2024, when Malaika received the news of Anil’s death, who reportedly committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of his building. The last rites of Anil Mehta will be performed at the Hindu crematorium in Santa Cruz.
After 20 days of Anil Mehta’s death, Malaika returned to social media and shared her first post. Taking to her IG stories, she shared a note that can be read as, “October will be good to you. Scorpio.” For the uninitiated, October 23 is Malaika Arora’s birthday, and the actress is hoping for some happiness amid the personal loss she recently incurred.
If sources are to be believed, Malaika’s mother said that Anil used to sit on the balcony and read the newspapers every morning. Joyce further shared that she saw Anil’s slippers in the living room early in the morning. So, she went to the balcony to look for him. However, she could not find him there. Suddenly, she heard the building watchman shouting for help. So, she leaned over the balcony to see below and found her husband lying on the ground.
Ever since the news of Anil Mehta's death flashed in the headlines, there have been many rumours doing the rounds. Some claimed that Anil was battling depression and was unwell for quite some time. It should also be noted that he was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai in 2023, but the reason behind the same is unknown.
As soon as Malaika received the news of her father’s death, the actress rushed to her parent’s home in Bandra. After undergoing much emotional turmoil, Malaika penned a heart-wrenching note for Anil Mehta. Sharing a monochrome photo, Malaika penned:
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by the loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult times. We appreciate your understanding, support and respect."
For the unversed, Anil Mehta was Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora’s stepfather. Her biological father’s name is Anil Arora.
