Mallika Sherawat recently shared a bit of cheeky banter with the paparazzi as she headed out for promotions for her upcoming film, 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video'. The film is set to be her comeback.
In the early 2000s, Mallika Sherawat was often the first name to pop into mind when one thought of bold actresses. Her performances in Khwahish (2003) and Murder (2004) as well as her many popular item numbers turned her into a B-town sex symbol. The actress, who moved to the US and started splitting her time between LA and Mumbai after some 5 to 7 years in the industry, is now gearing up for her much-anticipated comeback. She will be seen in Raaj Shaandilyaa's Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, which features Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri as leads.
On September 30, 2024, Mallika Sherawat was captured as she headed out for the promotions for her upcoming film. The actress had worn a gorgeous red halter neck top and a flowy, printed skirt. She accessorised with a statement golden belt, some bracelets, and a pair of chunky sunglasses.
While posing for the paparazzi, Mallika had a cheeky moment with the paparazzi who couldn’t seem to get enough of her. One of them let out an enthusiastic “wow” as a compliment, and she playfully teased him, saying, “Bada wow wow kar raha hai.” The pap then responded that it was his first time seeing her, which is why he couldn’t hold back his amazement. Well, Malaika had a witty response in store for him, as she said:
“Kamal hai, 20 saal se main industry mai hoon, tune mujhe pehli baar dekha?”
He then clarified that he had meant it was his first time seeing her in real life, to which Malaika had yet another quip. Teasing the pap about his freshness in the industry, she addressed the rest of the group, saying:
“Yeh baccha hai. Iske doodh ke daanth toote hain ya nahi?”
For the uninitiated, Mallika Sherawat will be playing the role of ‘Chanda’ in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, which is set for release on October 11, 2024. According to the film’s director, Raaj Shaandilyaa, the role was written with specifically her in mind. In an exclusive interview with Money Control, he said:
“I wrote the character only for Mallika Sherawat. I had only Mallika Sherawat in mind for that role of 1990s ka heroine to be cast opposite Vijay Raaz.”
Raaj’s efforts to write an entire character just for Mallika is a testament to her lasting appeal and the nostalgia associated with her time in Bollywood. He further revealed Mallika’s surprise at finding out he was offering her a role in a Hindi film and not an item number. He told Money Control:
“I called her, I have written a character for you, and she was like, really, mujhe laga kuch gaane ke liye bula rahe ho. The moment she heard the role, she immediately said yes to it.”
