Mallika Sherawat recalled the hard times when she was character assassinated by a section of the Bollywood industry. Check out the video!
Popularly known for her bold onscreen presence and sizzling performances in Hindi movies like Murder and Welcome, Mallika Sherawat has garnered humongous fame in Tinseltown. From confidently donning bikinis for movies to performing intimate scenes with her co-stars, Mallika has always been ahead of her time. However, she was often in the news for being in an alleged romantic relationship with her co-stars.
On the one hand, Mallika was soaring high professionally after the release of Murder in 2004 opposite Emraan Hashmi. However, on the other hand, she was severely character assassinated by the industry people for showing her bold side on the silver screen. Now, in an interview with a media portal, Mallika opened up about why she had not reacted to the hateful comments.

In a recent conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Mallika Sherawat was asked to recall the time when other women targeted her for wearing bikinis in movies and doing kissing scenes. Answering this, the actress said that if the director wanted a glamorous shot, she couldn’t have worn ghagra-choli. Moreover, Mallika added that other people's comments had never affected her as she was happy to focus on working in good movies. Check out the interview video!
Earlier, in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Mallika Sherawat, had opened up about her decision to drop her father's surname. She had recalled fighting patriarchy in her hometown, Haryana and running away from her house to pursue a career in acting. Mallika had stated that her father had felt that she would ruin their family's reputation by venturing into showbiz. She had stated:
“It was my rebellion against patriarchy because my father said, ‘Ye filmo mein jayegi, parivaar ka naam kharab karegi, main tereko disown karta hoon.”

In the same conversation, Mallika had recalled the time when her father had even threatened to disown her. And after that ugly fight with her dad, she had deliberately dropped Lamba from her name to inherit her mother, Santosh Sherawat's last name. In her words:
“Maine kaha, 'Main tumhara naam hi disown karti hoon. Tum kya mujhe disown karoge. Yes, you're my dad, I respect you, I love you, main apni maa ka naam use karungi. So I used Sherawat, it's my mother's name.”
On the work front, Mallika will be seen in her upcoming film, RK/Rkay.
