Manish Malhotra is widely acknowledged to be one of the hottest designers on the Indian haute couture world today. The fact that he has attained such success and acclaim at his age is a testament to his talent and work ethic. In the past, reigning Bollywood queens like Aishwarya Rai Bacchan have walked the ramp for his fashion shows.
Manish Malhotra showcased his bridal collection of 2011 at the Mizwan Fashion show, and beauties like Celina Jaitley, Sameera Reddy, Anushka, Neha Dhupia, Sonam Kapoor and Diya Mirza, amongs others, donned his creations to walk down the catwalk.
What is different about his bridal collection of 2011, you ask? Unlike his competitor Tarun Tahiliani, who went with nude in shades and a number of fabrics this year, Manish Malhotra drew his inspiration from the vibrant shades of the Indian landscape – fuchsia, cerise, crimson, gold and green. Additionally, he went with only 2 basic fabrics, velvet and chiffon, both very luxurious, as an appropriate counterpart for an Indian wedding.
One thing that remains constant across all Manish Malhotra collections is the superb degree of craftsmanship and attention to detail. His bridal collection of 2011 is no different. The intricate zari embroidery and detailed sequin work will surely delight you. The collection also bore the Manish Malhotra trademark blend of Indian tradition with Western fashion, so there were plenty of anarkali cut lehengas, fusion saris and netted kurtis.
There were plenty of options for the gents as well, with a pathan cut sherwani donned by Saif Ali Khan dominating the runway.
