Manish Malhotra opened the day 1 of the India Couture Week at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai and no less than 55 models walked the ramp for this stylish designer whose collection was a harmonious blend of the old and the contemporary. The mix and match of fabrics in order to heighten the influence of bridal wear also received lots of appreciation.
While the traditional shades of red, magenta, green were there in their full profusion, the collection will be remembered for lehenga skirts hued in emerald jewel tones. The exquisitely designed blouses and cholis with sequins, embroidery and all kinds of lavish works displayed on them are bound to be a hit this wedding season. There was innovation in design as could be seen from the use of various kinds of pleats, piping, anchors and smoking patterns. For the entire part of the collection, the focus was on designs and cuts and embellishments.
Clad in a beautifully pristine silver choli and lenhenga and gorgeous hair left astray, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walked the ramp as the showstopper for Manish, who was visibly elated at the response his designs received.
