Karan Johar frequently shares heartfelt pictures of his mother, Hiroo Johar, on his Instagram, alongside his two children, Yash and Roohi. In 2021, Hiroo faced significant health challenges, undergoing two major surgeries within eight months, including a spinal fusion surgery and a right knee replacement. At 81 years old, Mrs Johar continues to be a source of inspiration in Karan’s life. After she overcame both surgeries amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Karan shared an emotional tribute to his mother, calling her his ‘superhero’ for enduring the challenges with strength and humour.
Last year, Karan penned a heartfelt note for Hiroo Johar on Mother’s Day, where he described her as a ‘rock’ and ‘pillar’ for him and his children. His post read:
“Roohi, Yash and I are blessed to have you as our Rock, our pillar, our conscience and our heartbeat…. Love you mama to the moon and back #happymothersday”
When it comes to his personal life, Karan often speaks fondly of his ‘modern family’, where he and his mom co-parent his children, Yash and Roohi, who were born via surrogacy. The filmmaker recently appeared on an episode of his popular Netflix show, Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, opening up about his concerns as a single parent navigating unconventional family dynamics. He shared:
“My constant fear is that I will have to deal with questions from my children about my circumstances and the modern family situation we have. But I hope they understand the love and care that has always surrounded them.”
On his professional front, KJo has had quite a happening year. Following the success of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, he is now preparing for his next romantic comedy, Chand Mera Dil, starring Ananya Panday and Lakshya Lalwani. The film, set to release in 2025, promises a lighthearted exploration of modern relationships.
We pray for Hiroo Johar’s swift recovery, and hope to see her back in good health soon.
