Chhaya Kadam, aka 'Manju Mai' of 'Laapataa Ladies', makes her debut at the Cannes Film Festival in her mom's saree and 'nath'. In her classy OOTD, she represented her Marathi roots.
Chhaya Kadam has become a household name after the portrayal of her character, 'Manju Mai', which touched everyone's hearts in the film, Laapataa Ladies. The movie was a commercial success and received much love and appreciation from the viewers, and Chhaya's short yet impactful acting left a mark on the audience's heart. The actress is now making us all proud on the global platform, Cannes.
While scrolling through our Instagram, we came across the stunning visuals of Chhaya Kadam as she made her grand debut at the Cannes Film Festival. For the day, the actress donned her mother's saree in beige and golden hues and paired it with a purple-toned brocade embroidered blouse. Chhaya looked ethereal in the traditional Marathi attire, and talking about the same, she added:
"Mom, my dream of making you travel in a plane remains unfulfilled, but today I brought your saree and nose ring on a flight to the Cannes Film Festival, and so I am satisfied. Still mother! You were needed today to watch this. Love you a lot."

Along with her mother's saree, Chhaya also wore her nath, which further accentuated her look by manifolds. She completed her look with a bun, decorated with a gajra and kept her glam neutral with a bind and nude makeup. For the unversed, Chhaya Kadam's upcoming film, All We Imagine As Light, directed by Payal Kapadia, competed at Cannes 2024 for the prestigious Palme d'Or. This is the first film to compete for the Palme d'Or in the last thirty years.
Chhaya comes from a humble abode where her father was a mill worker. She started her career in acting as a theatre artist and made her stage debut in Waman Kendre's Zulva. Chhaya's first film, Baimanus, was never released due to unforeseen circumstances, but that did not break her spirits, and she continued to follow her passion. She subsequently appeared in films such as Mi Sindhutai Sapkal, Baboo Band Baaja, Kuni Ghar Deta Ka Ghar and many more. Chaaya debuted in Hindi cinema with Singham Returns, where she had a small screen time with Ajay Devgn.

All We Imagine As Light is a Malayalam and Hindi language film starring Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam and Hridhu Haroon in pivotal roles. The story follows the life of a nurse who lands in a soup after she receives gifts from her estranged husband. On the other hand, her younger roommate, Anu, tries to find a spot in the city of Mumbai, to be intimate with her boyfriend.
