Manoj Bajpayee recently shared why he avoids attending big Bollywood parties. He also shared why films like '12th Fail', 'Pushpa', and 'KGF' were commercially successful.
Manoj Bajpayee has made a name for himself in the Indian film industry with his impeccable and versatile performances. He first stepped into the world of acting around 30 years ago and has since worked in innumerable films. His breakthrough role came in the 1998 film, Satya, but his next few films failed to propel his career forward. He again shot to immense popularity with his role in the film, Gangs Of Wasseypur, and ever since then, there has been no looking back.
Recently, Manoj Bajpayee sat for an interaction with Raj Shamani on his podcast, Figuring Out. The actor, who is currently promoting his film, Silence 2, talked about Bollywood parties, among other things. The host started the conversation by saying that he had previously read somewhere that Manoj doesn’t like attending big Bollywood parties. The latter revealed that it is not just the parties in the industry, but in general, he does not like attending big parties. Speaking along the same lines, Manoj shared:
“Chahe wo iss industry ki party ho ya koi bhi party ho badi, I feel lost there. Mere matlab ki koi cheez nahi ho rahi hoti hai aur aap kisi se baat nahi kar rahe hote ho, aap kise se connect nahi kar rahe ho. Aap wahan pe kyu ho wo karan hi galat hai because I want to be seen in the right place and I don’t want to be seen in the so-called right place.”

Manoj Bajpayee further explained what parties mean to him. According to his definition, parties are places where he can sit with his friends, talk their hearts out, educate each other or reminisce about their good old days. However, at Bollywood parties or any other big parties, these things do not happen. Sharing what goes on in these parties, Manoj added:
“Wahan pe kya ho raha hota hai, inme se koi bhi cheez nahi. Aap ek se mil lete ho, gale mil rahe hote ho, phir thik saamne dekh rahe hote ho ki ab kis ko gale lagaun. Toh aap kisi ke saath ho nahi wahan pe. Mujhe baat samajh aati nahi hai, aap jate ho ek utsav sa mahaul hota hai, hazri dijiye aur chale aaiye, main yahi kaam karta hun.”

The host further inquired if his PR team asked him to stay at such parties or meet with certain people. To this, Manoj revealed that he never had a PR team in his entire career but appointed one because he needed someone to manage his social media accounts. The actor said he never lets them dictate his life and chooses not to share much about his personal life.
In the same interaction, the host said that the actor is not materialistic nor does he fear success or failure and asked him what drives him. To this, Manoj shared that his passion for acting and the craft drives him. He further added that he isn't afraid of flop films but of bad films. Manoj said that his films like Aligarh and Bhonsle did not work at the box office, but people know him for those kinds of films. Moreover, he also highlighted the phases of Indian cinema and said:
“Commericial filmom mein success milti hai uss tarah ki film ko jahan pe achanak se darshakon ko jis hero ki talash thi wo mil jata hai. Har samay alag hota hai. 20-25 saal pehle, wo aspirational samay tha toh logon ko Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan mile. Aaj hindustan jo hai wo udaas hai, usko lagta hai ki uske paas wo nahi hai jo chahiye tha toh uske karan wo Allu Arjun ko dekh rahe hai, apna hero dhoond raha hai jo antt mein jeet ta hai shayad isiliye 12th Fail bhi hit hoti hai, ki ek din main zaroor safal hounga.”
