Masaba Gupta opened up about what it meant for her to be the daughter of celebrity parents, Neena Gupta and Vivian Richards.
Masaba Gupta is one of the A-listed fashion designers in the current generation, who has been mesmerising everyone with her impeccable creations. And she hasn’t just restricted her talents to designing, but also has extended her skills in the field of acting as well. For the unversed, Masaba is the lovechild of veteran actress, Neena Gupta and eminent West Indian cricketer, Vivian Richards. While Masaba has already created a name for herself in the showbiz world, she recently spoke about what it meant to be the daughter of talented celebrity parents.
In a recent interview with Twinkle Khanna on her chat show, Tweak India, Masaba Gupta reflected on her life and expressed what it meant for her to grow up as the daughter of massively talented celebrity parents, Neena Gupta and Vivian Richards. She mentioned how people assumed that she was blessed with a lot of wealth, as her parents made tons of money, whereas, on the contrary, she needed to build everything for herself. In her words:
“I was very grateful that I had what I had. Everyone tells me, ‘Oh you’ve become successful because of your mum and your dad’. Someone apparently told a friend once that, ‘What does she have to do. Her dad left her hundreds of crores’. I said no, there’s no hundreds of crores. They are being built, but I am building that myself.”

In the same interview, Masaba Gupta added how she was never was under pressure or felt negative about the amount of respect and stardom that her parent’s achieved on their own merit. In fact, she always considered it to be a great benchmark for her. She mentioned:
“But I never felt that it was negative. I thought it was positive, because I had such a great benchmark. I had two examples in my house on how great you can be and I always saw it like that.”
In the concluding segment of the interview, Masaba reminisced a memory with her father, Vivian Richards and revealed what the latter wanted her to become in life. She mentioned that her father always wanted her to become a tennis star, and added that at one point in her life, she was ranked third in state-level tennis for Maharashtra. However, Masaba also pointed out that her phase of playing tennis was her way to deal with anger issues in her life.

In one of her interviews, Masaba Gupta had opened up about the phase of her life, especially concerning the time when her marriage with her ex-husband, Madhu Mantena had ended. She revealed that somewhere more than all the pain she suffered, the situations seemed all the more tough for her mother, Neena Gupta, who simply couldn’t fathom the fact that her daughter suffered the same fate like her. Moreover, Masaba added how Neena had started to blame herself for the former’s broken marriage.
