On Oprah With Meghan and Harry: A Primetime Special, the former Duke and Duchess of Sussex have revealed the gender of their to-be born second child. Announcing that it’s a baby girl and Meghan is due sometime this summer, Harry had said, “To have any child, any one or any two, would have been amazing. But to have a boy and then a girl, what more can you ask for?” Revealing his feelings upon learning the baby is a girl, Harry had continued, "Grateful, having any child, any one or a two would have been amazing, but to have a boy and then a girl . . . now we've got our family, and we've got four of us." It was in February 2021 when Harry and Meghan had announced their second pregnancy and the news was made all the more poignant considering the former Duchess had suffered a miscarriage in July 2020.
With the entire world talking about the explosive tell-all interview of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with Oprah Winfrey, photographer, Misan Harriman released a photograph of the couple with their son, Archie. Speaking in an ITV documentary, Meghan Markle had once spoken about her journey during her first pregnancy and when asked if it would be fair to say it had "really been a struggle", she had retorted, "Yes." Revealing how she was coping up, Meghan had said, "Look, any woman - especially when they are pregnant - you're really vulnerable and so that was made really challenging, and then when you have a new born - you know? And especially as a woman, it's a lot. So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed. And also, thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I'm OK." In a moving account written in the New York Times, Meghan Markle had spoken about her miscarriage in July 2020 and recounted how she and her husband, Prince Harry had shared tears later as they comforted each other on a hospital bed. Meghan had written, “Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few. It was a July morning that began as ordinarily as any other day: Make breakfast. Feed the dogs. Take vitamins. Find that missing sock. Pick up the rogue crayon that rolled under the table. Throw my hair in a ponytail before getting my son from his crib. After changing his diaper, I felt a sharp cramp. I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right. I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second.”
Meghan Markle had further said that she hopes more people will be open about checking in with their loved ones and not be afraid to ask if they are OK. She had continued, “Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears. Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal. In the pain of our loss, my husband and I discovered that in a room of 100 women, 10 to 20 of them will have suffered from miscarriage. Yet despite the staggering commonality of this pain, the conversation remains taboo, riddled with (unwarranted) shame, and perpetuating a cycle of solitary mourning. Sitting in a hospital bed, watching my husband’s heartbreak as he tried to hold the shattered pieces of mine, I realized that the only way to begin to heal is to first ask, ‘Are you OK?’" (Also Read: Meghan Markle's Son, Archie Was Denied The 'Prince' Title Before He Was Born For A Shocking Reason)
