Hardik Pandya has been helming headlines, ever since the cricketer replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain of the Mumbai Indians team in the Indian Premiere League 2024. While ardent cricket fans are disappointed over such a move, they have even criticised Hardik for his apparent inability to guide his team in the matches this season. Moreover, some fans have even gone to the extent of booing him live on the cricket stadium, and comparing his failed captainship, and praising the former captain, Rohit Sharma instead.

BCCI imposes a whopping fine of Rs. 12 lakhs against Hardik Pandya for slow over-rate

According to a recent statement by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Hardik Pandya has been accused of a Code of Conduct breach in his latest match for the Mumbai Indians against Punjab Kings during the ongoing Indian Premiere League 2024. The cricketer, who is the captain of his team, failed to complete the stipulated 20 overs of bowling within the given time, thereby recording a slow over-rate. Thus, the BCCI decided to fine him with a whopping amount of Rs. 12 lakhs. Moreover, the authorities even stated that since this was the first time that Hardik failed to complete the over-rate criteria, thus only this much amount has been fined over him.

Well, IPL matches are quite sentimentally attached to the tons of audience and cricket fans who watch it ardently each season. Moreover, every person has their own favourite team, whose wins and losses are associated quite closely to them. Something similar happened back during one of Mumbai Indian’s matches against the Sunrisers Hyderabad team in IPL 2024. As the former lost the match, angry fans displayed their agitation against the captain of MI, Hardik Pandya. They threw bottles and shoes over his image, as the match was shown on a giant screen.

This hasn’t been the first time that people have shown their utter disregard over Hardik Pandya being chosen as the captain of the Mumbai Indians in place of Rohit Sharma, under whose captainship the team has won quite a few IPL seasons. For instance, in another previous match of MI in IPL 2024, Hardik Pandya was publicly humiliated in the middle of a match by the audience in the strands. He not only got booed at, but people even teased him with the name of Rohit Sharma.
