Mika Singh recently shared a hilarious story about gatecrashing Amitabh Bachchan's Diwali party and being pranked by his elder brother, Daler Mehndi.
Mika Singh is one of Bollywood's most celebrated singers, known for his vibrant personality, catchy beats, and addictive Punjabi music. The singer is once again making headlines with anecdotes from his interactions with celebrities and superstars (or, in this case, an impersonator). Mika recently shared an amusing anecdote about gatecrashing Amitabh Bachchan’s Diwali party and falling for a hilarious prank orchestrated by none other than his elder brother, Daler Mehndi.
Mika Singh harbours immense admiration for Amitabh Bachchan, and he has mentioned this at numerous events. Recently, in a candid conversation with The Lallantop, the singer recalled the time he gatecrashed Big B’s popular Diwali party at Jalsa without an invitation. Being fascinated with the stunning decorations of the party, Mika used to pass by the megastar’s house every year, eager to get invited once. One year, unable to hold his curiosity any longer, he decided to gatecrash the party. Mika shared:
“Every year, Mr Bachchan would celebrate Diwali at his house, and I would pass by and admire all the decorations. I always wanted to be invited. I had a big car, a Hummer, so I entered his house without an invitation once. I took a couple of rounds and exited. I used to invite him to my shows. I would send him messages, and he would reply, ‘God bless you.'”
In the interview, Mika also mentioned how he used to invite Amitabh Bachchan to his shows, sending him messages that would receive responses like, “God bless you.” However, little did he know that his brother had a hilarious prank up his sleeve. Daler set up a prank call with an impersonator mimicking Bachchan’s voice. The impersonator’s voice was so convincing that Mika immediately stood up in respect and began speaking with what he believed was Big B himself. Mika recalled:
“Daler told me, ‘I’ll get you the real Bachchan on the line, wait’. And he called a number and started saying, ‘Mr Bachchan, here, my brother Mika wants to talk to you’. I immediately stood up out of respect and spoke to Mr Bachchan. He sounded exactly like him. I didn’t know that Daler paaji had pulled a prank on me; I was talking to some duplicate.”
After learning the truth, Mika was disheartened and stopped sending invites to Bachchan. However, a sudden encounter on a film set changed everything. Surprisingly, Bachchan confronted Mika about the issue and enquired why he no longer received the messages. Mika told The Lallantop:
“One day, at a shoot, Mr Bachchan was there, and I was trying to hide from him. He called me over and asked me why I’d stopped sending him messages. He said that he would look forward to them, and that I shouldn’t stop. That’s the day my admiration for him increased."
