With all the things at their wedding being unique, one amongst them was their wedding trousseau. Milind and Ankita’s wedding outfit was designed by none other than famous craft revivalist and textile conservationist of India, Madhu Jain. The designer is an award-winning name and is widely applauded for her much-talked-about bamboo-silk textile for the garments. Madhu talked to the Times of India in detail about the story behind the couple’s wedding outfits.

Due to Milind’s eloquent love for nature and environment, Madhu opted for handwoven, organic and 100% biodegradable clothing. On the other hand, to represent a classical Assamese bride in Ankita, the designer picked an ivory and gold colour palette. And the interesting part is that Milind didn’t give any brief to her, just an idea that he needed something simple yet elegant. Going on to Ankita’s outfit, it was made to dress in a specially knit nine-yard nauvari saree. It is an Assamese-Maharashtrian combination, which was requested to be made on Milind’s request. And it was Milind’s mother Usha Soman, who helped her drape the saree. So what Madhu Jain did was, she designed the attractive Venkatagiri motifs in gold thread, along with the use of a famous Jamdani technique. Madhu very smartly managed to give a coordinated look to the lovebirds by making use of the same palette for both their outfits.

In addition to this, there were motifs depicting running bulls, which were woven on Ankita’s saree and Milind's stole. The running bulls are believed to be a symbol of plenty. And also, Madhu shared that the special motifs on both of their outfits were her way of blessing and wishing the couple. Going on to bride Ankita’s jewellery, it was completely classic Assamese jewellery, which was teamed up with a traditional Maharashtrian nose ring. Isn’t this an amazing amalgamation of two different cultures?

Ankita and Milind looked like a dream on their wedding day. We wish them lots and lots of love and happiness in this world!
