Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput Kapoor's love story has not only defied the 'so-called' beliefs, our gen-x has established in their minds but also they made us believe in the beauty of arranged marriages. In a world that, believes in the power of 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' more than 'Vivaah', Shahid took the traditional route and decided to make a new world with Delhi beauty, Mira. Their wedding has created quite a buzz considering the age gap between the two, plus the non-filmy background. But as we say, nothing matters, if you connect on a certain level. After all, that is the beauty of arranged marriages in India, and many still opt for it because you gotta find somebody through a way.
On July 7, 2019, Shahid and Mira completed four years of marital bliss and the star-wife took to her Instagram handle to wish her superstar husband. Mira shared a candid picture from their wedding with Shahid, and it defined couple goals. She captioned it as, "You make my world and me go round #happy4". Take a look at it below:
Coming back to their story, we still remember how the shy Mira walked into the world of crazy paparazzi, holding the hand of her one true love, Shahid. It was a sight to behold and we still love how Shahid amidst all the chaos held her hand with pride, dignity and gave her a sense of security. In an interview, Shahid had talked about Mira and had shared, "It was not just about being a non-celebrity, Mira was not part of my social circuit either. But I don't close myself to anything new. It doesn't matter where or how two people meet. What matters is if two people connect. And I got that feeling (with Mira)." In another interview, Shahid, who has been living alone as long as he remembers, had shared that it was a great feeling to come back home and find the love of his life waiting for him. He had stated, "I love the fact that I go back home to a normal person, who talks about normal things; and who sometimes tells me, 'I'm not interested in what's happening in your industry. Let's discuss what we are doing for lunch tomorrow or where are we going.' It's great and very healthy."
In an interview with The Times of India, Shahid had split the beans on it. He had shared, "I remember I went to her house for the first time and I was in the Tommy zone. So, I had a ponytail, drop-crotch track pants and weird shoes on. I recall getting out of the car in this avatar at Mira's farmhouse in Delhi. Her dad came out to welcome his son-in-law to be. He saw how I was dressed and he surely thought - 'God what is my daughter getting married to.' He barely looked at me, then whispered 'Come inside' and went away."
In another interview, Mira had talked about the concept of arranged marriage, and had stated, "Why not (go for an arranged marriage)? You have to meet someone in some way! It worked for us so beautifully because both of us laid our cards in the open in the beginning. We were ourselves. There was a different kind of discovery after marriage but there was no negative surprise. I understood the role I had to take and he (Shahid) understood that he had to become a part of my life. Both of us have given and taken a lot of each other and we have become more wholesome. It’s two halves that make a whole."
