He is married to famous actress, Sheela Sharma's daughter, Madalsa Sharma. The actor made his acting debut with the film, Jimmy in 2008. Later, he went on to work in films like Haunted - 3D, Ishqedarriyan, Rocky, Rosh, Loot and many more. However, unlike his father, Mahaakshay failed to make it big in the entertainment industry. Recently, the actor opened up about his 'no work' phase, family and many more things.
In an interview with ETimes, Mahaakshay Chakraborty opened up about his mother and yesteryear actress, Yogeeta Bali. "My mom is a complete home bird. She just loves us, and she really loves being at home. There are times when we all have to request her to get her out for lunch. And of course, mom decided that she wanted to be a mother and a family woman. She gave up all the limelight when she got married. She's pretty chill about it. But I believe somewhere in my heart that I really want to share screen space with her someday."

He also stated that Mithu advised him to prove his worth to audiences on his own abilities and not on his father's name. In his words:
"He has always been supportive. He has made it very clear to me that coming in this industry has been my choice. My father has always been a very important guide in my life and through his actions, I learn every day. He has told me, you know, I will never help you just because you're my son. Being my son doesn't give you a free ticket to do anything. You have to make yourself worth it. You have to be worth the audience's love, time and money. You do bad, they're not going to like you. You do good, they're going to like you. It's as simple as that."
In the same conversation, Mahaaksahy also talked about the rough phase of his life and stated that nepotism doesn't give work. Talking about the same, the actor mentioned that he is a living example of how people do not get work in the film industry just because they belong to a star family. Mahaakshay also revealed that he has faced rejections in life but that didn't stop him from going for auditions. Mentioning how destiny has a big role in every actor's life, Mahaakshay said that he is proud of what he has achieved on his own.
