Mona Singh recalled the journey of her debut hit show, 'Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi' and shared the struggles she had to endure while working in the same.
Mona Singh is one of the most popular faces in Indian cinema. She kickstarted her career with the hit television show, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi, which gave her widespread recognition. Thereafter, she became a part of quite a few television operas, including Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi, Kya Huaa Tera Vaada among others. Finally, in 2009, Mona made the giant leap and made her debut in films with the Aamir Khan starrer, 3 Idiots. And now, the diva recalls working for her debut show, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi.
In a recent interaction with Mirchi Plus, Mona Singh spoke about her iconic show, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi and revealed some shocking facts about the same. The show, which gave the actress widespread fame, also laid some severe struggles on her path. Mona revealed how she wasn’t allowed to reveal her own self in public, and always had to carry the image of her character, ‘Jasmeet Walia’ everywhere. In her words:
“Back then, the contracts were very strict. I could not reveal my actual self in front of people. I received an award but I accepted it as Jasmeet Walia. I wondered when people get to know the real me and how I look. Even my Jassi cast did not know how I looked.”

Revealing some more experiences, Mona Singh then added how she was restricted from visiting any salon and getting any change done, especially threading and waxing. For the unversed, Mona’s character in the serial donned a very nerd look. Thus, in order to keep up the same look, she had to maintain such restrictions. She mentioned:
“I was not allowed to wax, bleach, or get my brows done if someone recognized me. There were many restrictions.”
For the unversed, Mona Singh tied the knot with an investment banker, Shyam Rajagopalan in an intimate ceremony on December 27, 2019. In one of her previous interviews with ETimes, Mona spoke about the small changes in her life, post marriage and added how she didn’t feel any such change, as she knew her husband as a friend for a long time. Mona also added that she doesn’t feel awkward staying away from her parents, as they live about five minutes away from her home.

In an older interaction with India Today, Mona Singh had opened up about experiencing the casting couch in the showbiz world. The actress shared that it happened at the time when she used to travel from Pune to Bombay to give auditions. Mona revealed that she met a couple of people who made her feel uncomfortable and weird. In her words:
"I have. But that was, like, at the time, even before I got ‘Jassi…’. It was the time when I used to come from Pune to Bombay for auditions. I did meet a couple of people who made me feel uncomfortable and really weird and horrible."
