In an awkward turn of events, Mrunal Thakur responds to a fan account, mistaking it for a compliment from the Pakistani actress, Hania Aamir.
Mrunal Thakur predominantly works in Hindi and Telugu films. The actress began her jounrey in the entertainment industry with the television serial, Mujhse Kuchh Kehti...Yeh Khamoshiyaan in 2012. The actress made her film debut in 2018 with Demi Moore and Rajkumar Rao starrer, Love Sonia in 2018 in which she played the role of the main lead, 'Sonia Singhania'. However, she gained critical and commercial success with Hrithik Roshan starrer, Super 30 in 2019.
Mrunal Thakur is one of the most talented stars in Bollywood. However, a mixup happened when she rather amusingly fell for a social media faux pas recently. The actor, known for her stellar performances in films like Sita Ramam and Batla House, responded to a tweet on X (Twitter) which she believed was a complement from the Mere Humsafar actress, Hania Aamir. The post referred to Mrunal as the best actor of this generation, which warmed her heart. However, as it turns out, it wasn't the Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha actress and rather a fanpage account. On January 8, 2025, a fanpage of the Pakistani actress, Hania Aamir praised Mrunal Thakur and wrote:
"I may be emotional, but for me, @mrunal0801 is the best actor of this generation. She is unparalleled. I don't see any other actress as versatile as her in India."
As the account had a verified blue tick, Mrunal assumed it was the actress, Hania's real account. Feeling grateful for the love she had received, the actress reposonded to the tweet. She penned, "Hania, you made my day. Thank you so much, my dear".
Soon after Mrunal Thakur responded to the tweet on X, the netizens were left in splits. While many suggested that the actor should hire a more attentive team to manage her social media. One X user commented, "Real ID nahi hai vo." A commenter humorously pointed out, "Haha, ma'am, you should have noticed this is a parody account, not the original." Another user poked fun at the situation and penned, "Thanking a parody account? Time to fire your PR".
While Mrunal Thakur has not yet reacted or deleted the tweet, the fanpage that posted the tweet has removed it's profile picture and changed it's name. Fanpages are a popular part of today's social media world. However, with everyone being able to pay for a verified account on X, the authenticity of the users are largely in question.
Mrunal Thakur will soon be seen opposite Adivi Sesh in the upcoming action-drama, Dacoit. The film is being directed by Shaneil Deo, who co-wrote the screenplay with Sesh. The film will feature the story of an angry convict seeking vengeance against his ex-girlfriend who betrayed him. The movie is scheduled for release in theatres later in 2025.
