Mahendra Singh Dhoni's daughter, Ziva was seen with her grandparents at the cricket stand cheering for her dad playing for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2025.
Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is interesting. Apart from the participation of varied teams, there is Chennai Super Kings (CSK) 'Captain Cool', Mahendra Singh Dhoni who is everyone's fan favourite. CKS's 'Thala' has been with the team since 2008 and ever since he retired from international cricket, there has been gossip doing rounds as to whether he would also retire from IPL. Adding more fuel to the speculations, MS Dhoni's parents and his daughter, Ziva, were seen at Chepauk where they had come to watch the IPL 2025 match. Dhoni, on the professional front, may have broken records and won trophies, but he likes to keep his personal life away from the spotlight. However, it seems like Ziva is very close to her grandparents.
It was on February 6, 2015, when MS Dhoni and his wife, Sakshi were blessed with Ziva. Ziva is growing up to be a beautiful girl as an unseen picture of Dhoni's parents, Pan Singh and Devaki Devi, along with Ziva from the cricket stand, went viral. They were seen watching Chennai Super Kings' match opposite Delhi Capitals, which was held at Chepauk. As seen in the viral snap, Ziva was seen blowing a yellow whistle and holding the shoulders of her grandparents. Dhoni's mom was clad in a cream saree with a maroon blouse and simply wore specks, a bindi, a sindoor and a mangalsutra. Dhoni's dad was seen in a striped kurta, white cap and sunglasses.
It seems like Ziva likes the company of her dadaji and dadi as it was a rare site of Ziva along with her grandparents watching her dad play right from the stand. There have been murmurs doing rounds that this would be Dhoni's last appearance as the veteran cricketer reportedly would announce his retirement.
Dhoni, earlier in an interview with Star Sports had shared that after the birth of his daughter, Ziva, his life completely changed. Dhoni shared that he does not know whether he changed as a cricketer or as a person because daughters are very close to their fathers. Back in 2019, when Dhoni was called by an event which was held by Mastercard India, he shared the reason behind naming his daughter, Ziva. Dhoni revealed that he kept that name for his daughter as he picked it up from an American TV show called, Naval Criminal Investigative Service. He shared that he loved the name as it was short and crisp. The proud father also shared that Ziva was a Hebrew name that meant light and shared:
"It (Ziva) is a Hebrew name. Basically, it means light. We picked it from a serial. There used to be a serial named NCIS, I don’t know how many of you have watched it. There was a character named Ziva in that. I somehow always liked short names, which are not very heavy."
Dhoni's wife, Sakshi is often seen cheering for her husband from the cricket stand but after a long time, Ziva was seen at the stadium with her grandparents.
