Mukesh Ambani is India’s richest business magnate, who runs his multi-billion dollar company, Reliance Industries. Born on April 19, 1957, in Yemen to Dhirubhai Ambani and his wife, Kokilaben Ambani, Mukesh got his business acumen from his father. Taking forward his family business after the death of Dhirubhai, Mukesh went on to become the richest man in Asia.
In 1985, Mukesh Ambani married Nita Dalal, and the couple welcomed three kids, Akash Ambani, Isha Ambani, and Anant Ambani. Mukesh and Nita are proud grandparents to Prithvi, Vedha, Krishna, and Aadiya. As they say, behind every successful man, there is a woman. This is true in Mukesh’s case, as his better half, Nita Ambani, has always been with him through all his highs and lows.

Nita Dalal got the attention of Dhirubhai Ambani and Kokilaben during one of her dance performances at a cultural event. Dhirubhai thought of approaching Nita with a marriage proposal for his son, Mukesh Ambani. As Mr Dhirubhai called Nita and introduced himself, she thought someone was making a fool of her and disconnected the call. It was much later that Nita realised that it was actually Mr. Dhirubhai who wanted to talk to her. He asked her father for Nita’s hand, and after the acceptance, Nita’s and Mukesh’s courtship began.

When Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani’s courtship period began, it wasn't easy for the two to make time for each other. He was busy with his work until late at night, and Nita, too, was working as a teacher. But despite all this, they took time to meet each other.
Do you know that Mukesh had proposed to Nita in a filmy way? Yes, Mukesh had popped the question to Nita when they were driving on a busy Peddar Road. Like any normal day, the couple were on a date when Mukesh took Nita for a drive on the streets of Mumbai. Suddenly, he stopped his car to pop the question, “Will you marry me?”
It was quite a surprise for Nita as she didn’t expect Mukesh’s sudden proposal on a busy road and wasn’t prepared with an answer. As she couldn’t say anything, Mukesh, while keeping his calm told her:
“Tell me now or I won’t start the car.”
Born into a middle-class Gujarati family in Mumbai, Nita completed her bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics. She had a keen interest in Bharatanatyam and started learning the dance form from an early age. After completing her graduation, she became a professional Bharatanatyam dancer and also started working as a school teacher. When Mukesh proposed to Nita, she laid a condition to let her work post-marriage, which the Ambanis agreed to.

During Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's Hastakshar ceremony, Mukesh Ambani took centre stage and delivered a love-filled speech for his loving wife, Nita. Calling Nita the star of his family, Mukesh stated:
“It is a day for me to say a big Thank You to Nita. Words fail me when I attempt to describe what she means to me. Nita came in my life 40 years ago in this very week, in this very month of March. Now with her power of love, compassion and wisdom, she has become the star in our family, around whom all the planets and Moon revolve."
Going further in his speech, Mukesh also revealed that it is Nita, who has made him successful and is the anchor of his life. In his words:
“Nita is the anchor of my life. She has made me what I am today. She is not only my life partner. She is my moral compass. She is my conscious keeper. She taught me that whereas I have the right to do many things because of my postion in Reliance. From Nita, I have learnt that values are more important in life than valuation. And more importantly, she is the co-creator of Jamnagar and all I have achieved in my life. So, Thank you, Nita. You are my best friend."
