In an interview, Mukesh Chhabra opened up about his friendship with Sushant Singh Rajput and revealed that he was an oversensitive person.
Bollywood actor, Sushant Singh Rajput was last seen in the film, Dil Bechara, alongside debutante, Sanjana Sanghi. The movie, which was the Hindi remake of The Fault in Our Stars, aired on Disney+ Hotstar, weeks after Sushant’s death. Dil Bechara also marked the directorial debut of casting director, Mukesh Chhabra, who shared a cordial bond with the late actor, Sushant.
In an interview with The Lallantop, Mukesh Chhabra opened up about his friendship with Sushant Singh Rajput and shared that he finds it difficult to listen to the film, Dil Bechara’s song album because the memories connected with them are so sad. He added that most people have similar reasons for listening to those songs and calls it unfortunate as he feels that the music is very good. Talking about Sushant, Mukesh said:
“He was my best friend.”

When Mukesh was asked if he had any idea about Sushant's struggles, which led to his demise, Mukesh said 'No'. However, he added that if he had known about it, he would have gone and spoken to him. The director also mentioned that he used to meet with Sushant very often and said:
“It was during the pandemic. If I knew what he was going through, I would’ve gone and spoken to him. We used to meet very often. From his first film to his last one, our relationship remained strong.”
Mukesh also heaped praise on Sushant and lauded his determination, as the latter used to give everything he had in him to his films. When he was asked if Sushant was upset about being dropped from big projects, Mukesh said that the late actor was an oversensitive person and added:
“He would get affected very easily. He would get upset with people very easily. He would get very upset if he read a negative article about himself. He was an oversensitive person, we all are.”

For the unversed, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his residence in Bandra on June 14, 2020, and ever since then, the CBI has been probing the case related to his death. Apart from that, agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) have also been involved, and they had also done separate investigations. Sushant’s death became a national obsession for several months during the first lockdown and started several debates about nepotism.
