Recently, Mukesh Khanna shared his views on Akshay Kumar's consecutive box office failures and said Akshay needs to change his selection of movies.
Akshay Kumar is a big name in Bollywood. The actor is known for her versatile performances, discipline, and work ethic. During his three-decades-long career in the industry, he worked in films from various genres and aced them. From comedy to action, Akshay has always entertained the audiences. Despite having a good track record, his last few films have failed at the box office back-to-back. Recently, Mukesh Khanna, who worked with Akshay in his debut film, Saugandh, in 1991, shared his views on it.
Recently, Mukesh Khanna sat down for a conversation with Bollywood Bubble's Let's Talk and discussed Akshay Kumar's consecutive flops at the box office. The veteran actor said that, in his opinion, Akshay should make films on subjects that have been successful for him in the past. For instance, his movies like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha or Airlift performed well at the box office. He was quoted as saying:
"But I also told him that now he should choose subjects where he stands firm, like playing the role of a husband in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha or in the rescue operation film. I heard that the film did well, but it didn't have any action, which doesn't suit Akshay."

Mukesh added that Akshay shouldn't make films that don't suit him and should instead do more action films. The actor said that he wasn't aware if Akshay had seen his video where he gave these suggestions to him. However, he did hear that Akshay has become defensive towards suggestions, such as when people asked him not to do four films in a year. In his words:
"I don't know if he saw my video or not, and I didn't get any response, but I heard that nowadays he's being defensive. In a video, I saw someone comment, 'If you do four or five films a year, this is bound to happen.' To that, he responded, 'If I finish one film in four months, what should I do afterward? Come to your house?' That's what he said, and I read it. So, he is right in a way because he defended himself by saying that he saves the producer’s money and has perfect timing, finishing the work quickly."
In the same conversation, Mukesh said that Akshay Kumar must select the better stories along with the right genre. He said that audiences prefer to see him as a fighter, and he should focus on it. Further, he added how he critiqued the Sarfira actor against doing Tobacco advertisements. He said:
"But I still feel that he should change his selection of stories, and he will be a superhit again because people love him as a fighter. Even in Hera Pheri, he did comedy to some extent, but my connection with him isn't strong anymore. In fact, I've spoken against him regarding Laxmii, and I've criticised him in other instances too, like saying he shouldn't do gutka ads."
