Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita's modern-day love story in an old-school way: It began with an IG story, followed by a cafe date, first trip and more, and ultimately finalised with a proposal in Goa.
Sobhita Dhulipala and Naga Chaitanya are one of the lovey-dovey couples as of now. The duo got married in a traditional ceremony on December 4, 2024. The couple first kept their relationship hush-hush until they got engaged on August 8, 2024. While people were waiting for the couple to reveal their love story, their wish was fulfilled, as Sobhita and Chaitanya recently split the beans about their hush-hush romance that began with an IG story of the actor.
Recently, Sobhita Dhulipala and Naga Chaitanya sat for an interview with The New York Times, wherein they talked about their intimate wedding and love story. The couple first met at Nagarjuna's house briefly in 2018, moreover, their conversation began in April 2022, a year after Chaitanya's first marriage with Samantha Ruth Prabhu ended.
Talking about how they first time bonded with one another, the actress revealed that she started following Naga Chaitanya back in April 2022, and the very next day, she replied to one of his IG stories, which was about a sushi dish. Sobhita considers herself to be a 'big time foodie', and thus, the duo talked on a topic that was very interesting to the actress. Apart from food, Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala bonded over their language, Telugu. While he liked that Sobhita was very deep with her words, the actress was in awe of the fact that the actor kept liking her IG stories that spoke volumes about her personality and were different from the usual glamorous photos of celebrities. Chaitanya added that he wanted the actress to keep talking in Telugu. In Chaitanya's words:
"So when something pops up that’s very organic and real about a person, I immediately gravitate to that kind of content.”
After the talking stage was over, the first date of the couple took place at a cafe in Mumbai. At that time, Chaitanya was staying in Hyderabad, while Sobhita resided in Mumbai. It was Chaitanya who flew from Hyderabad to Mumbai, by taking an hour-long flight, which Sobhita found to be very 'charming' and 'old school' in a way. After that, they met at the Amazon Prime event, and the rest was history.
Sobhita said, "I was in a red dress, he was in a blue suit, and the rest is history.” That summer, they had their first trip to Bandipur National Park in the Indian state of Karnataka, where they spent quality time and bonded by playing chees, and even painting each other's hands with henna. In brief, Sobhita described her equation with Chaitanya. Stating that their dissimilarities kept them curious about each other, she stated:
"He’s a doer. I’m a be-er. I’m the fluttering kite and he’s the anchor. Our dissimilarities really kept us interested and curious about each other."
Following the same, the couple had a trip to London to celebrate Naga Chaitanya's birthday, after which, Sobhita met his family on New Year's Eve. The next year, Chaitanya met Sobhita's family, and it was obvious that they wanted each other. It was in August 2024 when Naga Chaitanya proposed to Sobhita for marriage in Goa. Talking about their family meet-up, Sobhita revealed:
"There is alignment, there’s chemistry, there’s curiosity. And it became obvious that our dissimilarities kept the tension alive in good ways and bad. We definitely wanted each other — that much was understood.”
