After remaining silent for a long time, Naga Chaitanya finally opened up about this separation from Samantha and how it became a topic of gossip in the media.
Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu were once among the most admired couples in the South Indian film industry. Their bond, fun interactions and support for one another always won the hearts of fans who expected it would last for long. But, within four years of marriage, the couple parted ways in 2021. They announced the news through their social media handles but never revealed the reason behind it. After maintaining their silence over their separation, Naga Chaitanya shared his feelings in a recent conversation.
Naga Chaitanya is on a promotional spree for his newly released film, Thandel. He recently appeared on the Raw Talks With VK podcast and discussed his divorce with Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Chaitanya shared that they separated because they both desired to go different paths in life for their own reasons. However, he can't understand why people are unsatisfied with the explanation. In his words:
"We wanted to go our own ways. For our own reasons, we have taken this decision, and we respect each other. We are moving on in our lives in our own way. What more explanation is needed, I don't understand."
Naga Chaitanya added that he hopes the media and audience can respect a personal decision taken by him and Samantha. He also requested privacy, highlighting that their separation and speculation behind the same have become gossip topics for entertainment. The Custody actor shared that he has moved on gracefully and is happy to have found love again. On the other hand, his ex-wife has also moved on in her life, and they respect each other. Naga Chaitanya was quoted as saying:
"We are leading our own lives. I have found love again. I am so happy, and we have so much respect for each other. It's not like it's only happening in my life, so why am I treated like a criminal?"
In the same conversation, Naga Chaitanya recalled the thought process behind his divorce. He believes that the decision to part ways was for the betterment of him and Samantha. After a lot of thinking, they came to the conclusion and continue to share a mutual respect for one another. Chaitanya highlighted that he comes from a broken family and understands the seriousness of the situation, so he for sure thought a lot before taking the big step. Reflecting on the same, he said:
"I'm saying this because it's a very sensitive topic for me. I come from a broken family. I'm a child from a broken family so I know what the experience is like. I will think 1000 times before breaking a relationship because I know the repercussions… It was a mutual decision…"
The Thandel actor continued that they didn't decide to seek divorce in one night, rather it took a lot of reflection. Moreover, he feels bad that things went down the way but believes it happened for a good reason. Sharing his feelings, the Thandel actor said:
"It's not like it happened overnight for me to feel down. I feel bad that it happened, but everything happens for a reason. You build yourself, you keep progressing, and you will find the right path soon. That's happened to me."
Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu fell in love while shooting for their popular film, Yeh Maaya Chesave in 2010. They dated for some time and tied the knot in two grand ceremonies, including one Hindu and a Christian ceremony in Goa in 2017. However, they announced their separation in 2021. Naga Chaitanya has married for the second time with Sobhita Dhulipala while Samantha is rumoured to be dating filmmaker, Raj Nidimoru.
