A name that we decided when I was 3 months pregnant for our to-be firstborn, irrespective of the gender. Sufi symbolises spirituality, art, philosophy, literature, soul, song and everything that we stand for. From the time you were born, you have filled up our lives and hearts with so much love & we just can’t get enough of you. Mamma & Dadaa love you. #myforevervalentine @babysufim."
Now, Jankee has shared a picture on her IG handle from her Goa vacation, when she was 4 months pregnant in September 2020. In the picture, we can see Jankee sitting on the sand, which has her, Nakuul and their baby boy, Sufi’s name written on it. Along with it, she narrated an incident where a few girls had come to meet Nakuul and all she was praying was for them not to see the name or share it with anyone. She wrote, “30th September 2020 I was only 4 Months into my pregnancy and no one except our immediate familes knew about it. Sitting at Vagator beach in Goa, watching the disappearing sun kiss the waves, i decided to capture that moment in time by engraving our names in the sand (may not be very legible given the fading light but it says Nakuul Jankee & ‘Sufi’)”
Jankee then shared how the girls had come to click pictures with Nakuul and she was hoping that they don’t see their child’s name on the sand. She added, “Minutes after this picture was taken a group of girls came up to Nakuul, wanting to click photos. They looked at me, look at my beach writing, looked at Nakuul and then took some selfies, had a small chat and left. They kept looking back and whispering and all I could think of was that ‘hope they didn’t see Sufi’s name written in the sand’. As soon as they left I quickly wiped out ‘Sufi’ hoping that our little secret name remains a secret until we decided to share it with the world. How soon or far back in your pregnancy, did you find a name for your next of kin? Did you go by your family’s recommendation, what’s your rashi etc .. or was it something which came to you? Always been curious about this... P.s - If those two lovely girls who met us at Vagator beach that day are reading this, apologies for being evasive and thank you for appreciating my music.”
