Finally, Nana Patekar reacted to the viral video of him smacking a fan and revealed that this was a complete misunderstanding. However, he also apologised to his massive fanbase.
Nana Patekar has been hitting the headlines ever since a video of him, slapping a fan surfaced on the internet. He can be seen slapping the fan who wanted to click a selfie with him amidst an ongoing shoot. Undoubtedly, soon, netizens started slamming the actor by calling him 'rude' and more. Afterwards, the film, Journey's director, for which Nana was shooting, Anil Sharma also stated that no such incident of the actor slapping his fan had happened over there. Instead, it was part of the shoot. Finally, Nana reacted to the viral video and asked for forgiveness.
Reacting to the viral video, Nana Patekar tried his best to clarify his stance. In a video message, Nana shared that he was shooting for a scene, where, as per the script, he was asked to slap a person and ask him to leave. Thus, when the fan approached him, Nana considered him part of the cast and did his act. However, he later understood that he had smacked a fan of himself instead of a cast member. Thus, he asked for forgiveness and explained the entire episode. In Nana's words:
"A video is going viral where I have hit a boy. Though this sequence is a part of our film, we had one rehearsal. We were scheduled to have a second rehearsal. The director told me to begin. We were about to begin when the boy in the video came in. I didn't know who he was. I thought he was one of our crew so I slapped him as per the scene and I told him to leave. Later, I came to know that he was not a part of the crew. So, I was going to call him back but he ran away. Maybe his friend shot the video. I have never said no to anybody for a photo. I don't do this...This happened by mistake...If there is some misunderstanding, please forgive me...I will never do anything like this."

In an interview with Aaj Tak, Anil Sharma revealed what exactly had happened in Nana Patekar's recent viral video. The Gadar 2 director mentioned that Nana didn't actually slap anyone. Instead, it was a part of shooting a scene in his film. Elaborating how Nana has been understood misleadingly, Anil Sharma elaborated on what actually happened in the video:
"We were filming it on the road in the middle of Banaras, where a boy who comes near Nana has to be hit on the head. Shooting was going on and Nana also hit him. But the crowd gathered there recorded it on their mobile cameras and then leaked the shot of the film. Now, Nana is being projected as a negative and rude actor on social media, which is completely wrong. I would request that the fans understand the truth of this video. This is a shot from the film. Nana has not hit anyone.”
On the work front, Nana Patekar will soon make his OTT debut with a political thriller, Laal Batti, directed by Prakash Jha.
