In an interview, Gautam Singhania's estranged wife, Nawaz Modi, opened up about how the former physically assaulted her. She also claimed that the Ambanis came to her rescue back then.
Raymond Chairman, Gautam Singhania announced his separation from his wife, Nawaz Modi, on November 14, 2023. As the business tycoon ended his 32-year marriage with his estranged wife, Nawaz, she demanded 75 per cent of his estimated USD 1.4 billion net worth, as part of the divorce settlement. Earlier, Nawaz had also alleged that her husband, Gautam, stopped her from attending his Diwali party, and the video of the same went viral on the internet.
In an interview with India Today, Nawaz Modi shared that her husband, Gautam Singhania assaulted her and their minor daughter, Niharika. Revealing the deets of the incident, she mentioned that it occurred on the morning of September 10, 2023, after his birthday party at their residence in Mumbai. She and Niharika took refuge in a room and tried to seek help from the police. Talking about the same, Nawaz said:
"I called my friend Ananya Goenka. She figured that the police were not going to come to help us. Gautam would have managed things around. Ananya said 'Me and Anant will go to the police station and come there’. Trishakar’s son Vishwaroop was also there for the party. He is a good friend of my daughters. They are the same age. So, she called him up, ‘Vishu come back, right now'. He knew the atmosphere in the house."

As Gautam Singhania was managing the cops, Nawaz Modi felt helpless. However, she further claimed that the Ambanis came to her rescue after her husband physically assaulted her. Narrating the incident, Nawaz revealed that Nita Ambani and her son, Anant Ambani came to their rescue and ensured that the police reached their house. She said:
"Before I knew it, Nita Ambani was on the line with me, Anant Ambani was on the line with me. The whole family had jumped in. Thank God for that because Gautam was telling Niharika ‘the cops are not going to help you. Everyone is in my pocket’. So, Niharika got even more distraught, and I told her to just calm down, we are getting help. Gautam did stop the cops from coming, but the Ambanis made sure they came.”
Speaking along the same lines, Nawaz Modi shared that Gautam tried to stop the cops from entering their residence, JK House. However, the Ambanis intervened and managed to corner Gautam, rescuing Nawaz and Niharika. She further added that Gautam didn't want the reports to be written at the police station, but thanks to the Ambani family they were written. In her words:
"Gautam tried to stop the cops from coming, from entering JK House, and he tried not to be smoked out and be brought down and cornered. Thanks to the Ambanis' instructions, the cops overruled everything Gautam tried. He was then truly cornered. He didn’t want the NCs (non-cognizable offence report) to be written. The Ambanis made sure that they were written."

Meanwhile, Gautam Singhania didn't react to the allegations raised by his estranged wife, Nawaz Modi. He said that he would like to maintain his family's dignity and refrain from offering any comment. Asking everyone to respect his privacy, Gautam said:
"In the interest of my two beautiful daughters, I would like to maintain my family’s dignity, and I will refrain from offering any comment. Please respect my privacy."
