In Neena Gupta's autobiography, she recalled the time when she had a crush on a guy during her college days and it turned out to be Shakti Kapoor.
Neena Gupta, a woman, who dared to break several stereotypes of society has always been ahead of her time. With an M.Phil. in Sanskrit, Neena left her comfortable life in Delhi to pursue her passion for acting. After working in parallel cinema, Neena had made her breakthrough with the critically acclaimed film, Woh Chokri, for which she had bagged a National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Neena had made a resurgence in her career in 2018. At the age of 59, she had played the lead in the comic drama, Badhaai Ho. Just like her career, Neena's personal life too had a lot of ups and downs. From her marriage being called off to giving birth to her daughter, Masaba, out of wedlock, Neena has seen it all.

In Neena Gupta's recently released autobiography, Sach Kahun Toh, the veteran actress recalled her college days at Delhi University. Recalling her days in Janki Devi Memorial College and how she was deprived of male interaction due to her all-girls college, Neena wrote, "We'd fantasize about having boyfriends. We'd sit around the periphery of our campus and gaze longingly as boys rode on their bikes to pick up their girlfriends after college."
Recalling how she had a crush on one of the boys, who would come to their college to pick his girlfriend, Neena continued, "There were two boys in particular whom all the girls would wait to see every day. They were well dressed, good looking, and one of them had eyes that were a unique shade of grey."
Decades later, Neena realised that the one with the unique grey eyes, on whom Neena had a major crush, was none other than actor, Shakti Kapoor. Recalling her chat with Shakti, Neena wrote, "It wasn't until decades later when I was talking to Shakti Kapoor about my college days that he revealed that he too used to live in WEA and had a girlfriend who went to Janki Devi. I used to come and pick her up."

Neena further shared how being in the same circle, they never crossed paths and concluded, "I laughed so heartily when he said this because it's such a small world, isn't it? We had grown up pretty much all our lives in the same area but had never crossed paths. I also couldn't believe that he was one of the two boys whom all the girls knew, and whose girlfriend we all envied."
For the unversed, in the 80s, Neena had fallen in love with West Indies cricket team captain, Vivian Richards, who was already a married man. Not only was she head-over-heels in love with him but had also given birth to their love child, Masaba Gupta. In 2008, Neena had married Delhi-based Chartered Accountant, Vivek Mishra.
