Bollywood actress, Neena Gupta talked about why she stopped her daughter, Masaba Gupta from following in her footsteps and stopped her from acting in films.
Neena Gupta is one of the finest actresses in the Indian film industry. She has entertained audiences with her acting skills in films like Badhaai Ho, Goodbye, Sardar Ka Grandson, Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan, Panga, Mulk, Pinni and more. Talking about her personal life, Neena Gupta got married to Vivek Mehra in 2008. However, before her wedding, she was in a relationship with ex-boyfriend-cum-cricketer, Vivian Richards. She even has a daughter, Masaba, out of wedlock with him.
For the unversed, Neena Gupta shares a beautiful bond with her designer daughter, Masaba Gupta. The mother-daughter duo often shares cutesy glimpses from their life. For instance, on November 10, 2022, Neena Gupta had taken to her IG handle and shared glimpses of her latest look for one of the promotional events of her upcoming film, Uunchai. In the pictures, we could see Neena donning a beautiful ivory saree paired with the cut-out blouse, which was designed by her daughter, Masaba Gupta. Neena completed her look with a broad neckpiece, stud earrings, bold makeup and a bindi. Along with the pictures, she had written:
"Thank you Beti.This beautiful saree is designed by @masabagupta for the premier of my film #Uunchai."

In an interview with ETimes, Neena Gupta opened up about her personal life and her bond with her daughter, Masaba Gupta. She even talked about what her daughter has learnt from her and said that Masaba must have learned what she had to learn. Further, Neena revealed why she had stopped her daughter, Masaba, from following in her footsteps and stopped her from acting in films. Talking about the same, she mentioned:
"I had told her that she won’t become a typical Indian heroine because of her appearance. I told her, You’ll get supporting character roles. If you’re willing to do that, then go ahead. I told her to first learn acting. Then she got into fashion. I like her acting. I said sorry to her for not allowing her to act. But she is very good."
Earlier, in an interview with Pinkvilla, Neena Gupta had opened up about her equation with her darling daughter, Masaba Gupta. Talking about the same, the Badhaai Ho actress mentioned that she shares a friendly bond with her designer daughter. Neena Gupta even talked about the relationship that she had with her mother and had said:
"My mother did not tell me anything. We could not talk about anything. Today me and Masaba, we are friends, and we are very good friends but still, I don’t ask her a few things and she will not tell me a few things so that limit is there."

Meanwhile, on November 2, 2022, Masaba Gupta had turned a year older, and her darling mommy shared a cutesy picture to wish her jaan on her special day. Taking to her IG handle, Neena shared a throwback picture which featured herself and little Masaba. Alongside it, She had written:
"Happy birthday my jaan ki tukdi @masabagupta."
On the professional front, Neena Gupta will be next seen in the film, Uunchai.
