Neena Gupta talked about her decision to give birth to Masaba Gupta and raising her without taking anyone's help.
Neena Gupta, who has always proved her mettle in acting with her path-breaking performances, has always been ahead of her times. Neena, who had welcomed her daughter, Masaba out of wedlock, had never shied away from discussing about the same. She had never regretted her decision and has been quite vocal about parenting Masaba without seeking anyone’s help.

Masaba Gupta is one of the leading fashion designers in India. She was named as one of the “Ten Best Indian fashion designers” by style magazine, Culture Trip. In 2020, Masaba had made her acting debut and had starred in the Netflix series, Masaba Masaba with none other than her mother, Neena Gupta.
Ahead of the release of Neena Gupta’s autobiography, Sach Kahun Toh, she talked about raising her daughter, Masaba without anyone’s help. In an interview with Times Now, Neena said that she was madly-in-love and for her, nothing else mattered. When she was going to deliver Masaba, she was confident that she would never ask for anyone’s help.
Sharing her mother’s words, “Education never goes waste”, Neena was confident of her decision of taking care of Masaba all alone. Talking about the same, the veteran actress said, “Mai kuch na kuch kar lugi. Mujhe koi kaam karne mei sharam nahi hai, ye meri maa se maine seekha. Mai jhadu laga lugi, mai bartan maanjh lugi, lekin mai maangugi nahi, isiliye mujhe wo confidence tha.”
Neena further stated that she was aware that people will gossip about her but it never bothered her. In her words, “But at that age, when you are in love, you don't think what will happen next. I didn't ask even a penny from my brother or my father or any of my friends - no financial support, no emotional support. And that is my strength and that is why I have moved on in life from one problem to another.”

On May 26, 2021, Masaba Gupta had taken to her IG handle and had shared an excerpt from the book, where Neena had talked about the time when she was pregnant with Masaba and couldn’t afford a c-section due to her financial constraints.
Neena’s doting daughter, Masaba had captioned her post as “An excerpt from ‘Sach Kahun Toh’ by @neena_gupta: When I was born, my mum had Rs 2000/- in her bank account. A timely tax reimbursement would bump that number up to Rs 12,000/- and ofcourse I was a C-section baby. As I read mom’s biography, I learn so many things & the hardships she has had to endure. I work very hard every single day of my life and never ever let anyone not give me what I deserve only to make sure I can pay her back for bringing me into this world...with interest! #sachkahuntoh #neenagupta (sic).”
