Dia Mirza and her husband, Vaibhav Rekhi welcomed their little prince, Avyaan Azad Rekhi, on May 14, 2021. The actress had to undergo a C-section delivery and it was a tough time for her.
Bollywood actress, Dia Mirza and her businessman husband, Vaibhav Rekhi's lives have changed ever since they have welcomed their son, Avyaan Azad Rekhi into their lives. However, for Vaibhav, it is his second child as he is already blessed with a baby girl, Samaira Rekhi, who is no less than a best friend to Dia. The actress is enjoying her motherhood journey to the fullest and is giving major mother goals to every working mom out there. Time and again, we see Dia, sharing cute pictures with her son on her social media handles.
To announce her first pregnancy at the age of 39, Dia Mirza had posted a throwback picture from their Maldives vacation, on her IG handle, which was clicked by her husband, Vaibhav Rekhi. Dia had flaunted her baby bump in the sunset picture and to announce the good news, she had written:
"Blessed to be... One with Mother Earth... One with the Life Force that is the beginning of everything... Of all stories. Lullabies. Songs. Of new saplings. And the blossoming of hope. Blessed to cradle this purest of all dreams in my womb. Photo by @vaibh_r #SunsetKeDiVaNe."

Motherhood comes with lots of emotions and the strongest one is to be with your child every second so that you can protect and nurture them without a miss. And, Dia Mirza is enjoying every moment of this wonderful journey with her son, Avyaan Azad Rekhi. In a recent interview with ETimes, Dia Mirza talked about her experience of celebrating the New Year with her husband and son for the first time.
"Just like it should be! Family time is precious. It was wonderful bringing in the new year with our daughter and baby boy."
Further in the interview, Dia Mirza opened up about her near-death experience and shared that she had got to go for an appendectomy in the fifth month of her pregnancy. She also added that her placenta had started to haemorrhage and thus her baby had to be delivered prematurely. In her words:
"I had to go in for an appendectomy in the fifth month of my pregnancy. I was in and out of hospital subsequently because of an acute bacterial infection that could have led to sepsis while I was in my sixth month of pregnancy. My baby had to be delivered because my placenta had started to haemorrhage. It was a tough time and I’m grateful for my gynaecologist who saved our lives."

The COVID-19 pandemic has created havoc in the whole world and we have witnessed a surge in the COVID-19 cases. With schools closed and social distancing being followed, it has become extremely difficult to manage the kids and keep them safe. New mommy, Dia Mirza also talked about how different it is to be a mother during these challenging times and stated:
"To bring a child into a world in crisis has a profound impact on all our choices. I hope that someday soon we won’t have to wear masks and our children can have normalcy in their lives. Our daughter is studying online and that is a struggle. Our son is too young to know the difference. But while we stay home, we cherish the time we have together and do all we can to make this time engaging, happy and safe for our children."
On December 31, 2021, Dia Mirza had bid goodbye to 2021, by sharing an adorable video on her Instagram handle. She had jotted down some of the positive moments of her journey of the 12 months of 2021 and had revealed that she is thankful to embrace motherhood this year with her prince, Avyaan. The actress had added that she is enjoying all the little moments amidst the hardships of being a new mother. She had mentioned that joy in a thankful note along with the video which could be read as:
“Thank you #2021 for making me a mother. It was a year filled with incredible joy, a near death experience, the early birth of our son and some very testing times. But the lessons are well learnt and the gratitude runs deep. The biggest learning – the toughest times don’t last. Breathe, Witness. Surrender. And be grateful. Enjoy single day.”
For the unversed, Dia Mirza had announced her second marriage, with her husband, Vaibhav Rekhi, in February 2021.
