Nikkhil Advani recently revealed that Shah Rukh Khan was unhappy with his grand helicopter entry in 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham'. Read on to learn why!
Nikkhil Advani, who worked as an assistant director for Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham , recently shared in an interview on Cyrus Says' YouTube channel that Shah Rukh Khan's grand helicopter entry in the film was very disappointing. He also shared that despite being the 'King of Romance,' Shah Rukh Khan actually hates love stories.
Nikkhil Advani recalled that in the set of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham , SRK initially thought that he had to jump from the helicopter while coming out to meet his mother, Jaya Bachchan. But he just had to step down normally. In his words:
“When we told him that his entry in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham is with the helicopter. He thought he was going to jump off the helicopter, while he just had to step down. The scene was more about Jaya Bachchan that she gets to know about the arrival of her son as soon as he touches the ground.”
Fans still celebrate Shah Rukh Khan's iconic entry in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. In the same interview, Nikkhil Advani said that 'Badshah of Bollywood' had a vision for his grand entry, which did not go as he thought it would.
Nikkhil worked with Shah Rukh Khan in several movies, such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Mohabbatein , and he directed him in Kal Ho Na Ho . He said that playing a vital role in these romantic films made him the 'Badshah of Romance'. But behind the camera, SRK often discussed his intention to try something on different genres. Nikkhil also claimed that Shah Rukh hates love stories. In his words:
"Shah Rukh and I used to have these conversations so many times that Karan and Adi only do a love story, let us do something different. Shah Rukh hates love stories. Considering that he is known as King Khan and King of romance, this and that, but he hates love stories. Dil Se is his favorite film."
Nikkhil Advani further said that SRK often praised sequences from thrillers like Darr and Ram Jane rather than his famous romantic films. SRK has a fondness for roles that push the boundaries of his craft, where he can explore complex emotions and darker shades of his personality. In his words:
"Shah Rukh Khan had this habit. Every time, Karan or Adi would make him hear a new song and tell him their plans of shooting it in Switzerland and stuff, he would always come back and call the other film better. He used to constantly do that."
Shah Rukh Khan's work was acknowledged in the movie's credits. In Kuch Kuch Hota Hai , SRK was given credit for the 'thrills' at the start of the movie, according to Advani, since he choreographed and treated the basketball scene as an action sequence. In his words:
"In the beginning of the film, he gets credit for thrills. It is because he treated the basketball sequence in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai like an action scene. He choreographed it."
