Time and again, women from all over the world have proved that ‘beauty with brains’ is not something of a novelty and it does exist! If anyone believes that women can’t be beautiful and intelligent at the same time, then they are clearly mistaken. Once known as the daughter of Ravindrabhai Dalal, the senior executive of the Birla group and then as wife of India's richest person Mukesh Ambani, Nita Ambani has proved to be much more than just a billionaire’s wife. The first lady in Indian business, Nita's rising profile in the Reliance empire is inspiring for women, who tend to remain as a shadow of their husbands. Not only Nita Ambani is the chairperson and founder of the Reliance Foundation and a non-executive director of Reliance Industries, but she also owns the Mumbai Indians cricket team and is the founder and chairperson of Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai. Nita topped the 'Asia's 50 Power Businesswomen' list of April 2016 issue. While everyone knows about the Ambani background, a little is known about Nita Ambani’s family.
Nita Ambani is the daughter of Ravindrabhai Dalal and Purnima Dalal. She has a sister, Mamta Dalal, who works as a teacher at Dhirubhai Ambani International School. Nita was also working as a school teacher when she met Mukesh Ambani. Even after their wedding, she worked as a school teacher for a few years. On March 9, 2019, Nita and Mukesh’s elder son, Akash Ambani got married to his childhood sweetheart, Shloka Mehta. We got a glimpse of Nita’s mother, Purnima and sister, Mamta at his wedding reception, and we can’t help but notice the resemblance between sister-duo, Nita and Mamta. Well, all we can say is that beauty lies in their genes!
Before Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta, his twin sister, Isha Ambani too, tied the knot with the love of her life, Anand Piramal in December 2018. Ambanis had hosted a sangeet ceremony for Isha and Anand in Udaipur and it was a star-studded affair with dance performances and love all around. Amongst the videos and photos that went viral from #IshaKiShaadi, we got our hands on a lovely dance performance by Nita Ambani with her sister, Mamta Dalal and sister-in-law, Tina Ambani on the song, Chogada.
In an interview with Vogue post-wedding, Isha Ambani Piramal shared interesting details about the life of the Ambanis, the feeling to be a part of such a prestigious lineage, growing up in the Ambani household and the ‘boss lady’ of the Ambani house, Nita Ambani. Revealing that she and her twin, Akash Ambani were born through IVF and calling her mother, ‘tiger mom’, Isha shared, “My parents had us after seven years of marriage—my twin Akash and I were IVF babies. When my mother finally had us she wanted to be a full-time mum initially. Later, she went back to work when we were five, but she was still a tiger mom.” (Also Read: Akash Ambani's Reaction On Seeing Shloka Mehta Walking Down The Aisle As Bride Is Priceless [VIDEO]) Sharing how her grandparents (maternal and paternal) and her maasi, Mamta Dalal, had a huge role in bringing them up, Isha Ambani Piramal further added, “I remember, whenever mom and I had fights, we’d call dad to resolve the issue. My mom was way stricter. If we wanted to bunk school, dad would be like “It’s no big deal” but mom would ensure we ate on time, studied hard and got our playtime as well. My grandparents (paternal and maternal) and my maasi played a huge role in bringing us up.” Apart from being a wonderful mother and a wife, Nita Ambani has been leading various Reliance enterprises. Speaking about what she has learnt from her mother and what is her attitude towards women at her workplace, the multi-millionaire heiress stated, “As much as I want to believe that women can have it all, I know that my mom gave it all up to raise us. But once we grew up, I also saw her balance work and home perfectly. Watching her play all these different roles—from full-time mom to businesswoman—I learnt how important each facet is in a woman’s life and how one needs to define what “having it all” means during these different stages. I feel very passionately about gender equality and equal participation in the work force because growing up I was made to believe that I could do whatever my brothers could do, as well if not better. So as a working woman, I believe that companies must create an environment that fosters equal participation.” (Also Read: Akash Ambani's In-Laws Had Immense Fun Pulling His Nose For A Ritual At His And Shloka's Wedding) The Ambanis are truly an inspiration for everyone!
