Demonetisation has affected the wedding season very badly. Many families which had weddings, have been severely affected by this move by the government. A limit of Rs. 2.5 lacs cash withdrawal from the bank had been given by the government to such families.
But amidst all this chaos, there seems to be one family which did not let demonetisation affect their wedding celebration. Union minister Nitin Gadkari’s youngest daughter, Ketki Gadkari, tied the knot with long-time friend Aditya Kashedikar on December 4, 2016. Aditya, currently works for the social media giant Facebook, in the United States.

The wedding, held in Nagpur, was attended by a large number of celebrated guests which included BJP ministers Rajnath Singh and Venkaiah Naidu, BJP president Amit Shah, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Phadnavis and yoga guru, Baba Ramdev.
Maharashtra ministers Chandrakant Dada Patil, Subhash Deshmukh, Pankaja Munde, Girish Mahajan, Sadabhau Khotkar and Girish Deshmukh were also present on the occasion.
Reportedly, Mr. Gadkari had ordered 50 chartered planes to ferry his VIP guests to the venue. This news caught a lot of attention as people went berserk thinking about how the minister could manage such an extravagant wedding in a time of dire crisis in the country. According to a news report in a leading daily, it was later stated that Nitin Gadkari had rubbished all rumours of him hiring 50 chartered planes, saying that all those rumours were “mischevious and incorrect”.
The wedding function held in Nagpur was reportedly a close knit affair only for close family members and friends. Sources close to the Gadkaris said to a leading daily:
“The marriage function is basically only for close relatives and friends. Not many VIPs have been invited. For VIP guests, two reception programmes, one at Nagpur and the other at New Delhi, have been arranged on December 6 and 8, respectively. While all top VIPs like President, Prime Minister, Union Ministers and many others from ruling and opposition parties have been invited for the Delhi reception, the Nagpur reception will host state ministers, MLAs, journalists, industrialists and people from other walks of life.”
